Literally only Part, Wade and Lewis pushed him close in 16 Finals. Immense record, will never see the likes again in any sport

The Thing is players back then just werent as good as players are now The top 10 players from back then wouldnt even be in the top 32 nowadays So Taylor had literally no real competition and could just go off Its like letting Hamilton race in F2

Maybe not so much now, but you cannot deny there will never be another darts player as good as phil taylor. Iconic.

Looking at his averages, there are a few players who can match or beat his A-game if they're playikg at their top level (MvG, Price, Wright and in the past Anderson), but his sort of dominating the sport won't be seen again

@@nicokern7615 yeah MVG and Wright have recorded 120+ averages over a short format to Taylors 118. but it was the consistancy of Taylor during his peak, he would be near on 110 every important game, where as all the guys you mention can easily throw low 90s. even MVG this matchplay threw 89 in his 1st rd. Taylor in his earliar days would throw that with 2 darts.

Phil Taylor is the greatest ever but at their best no one is better than MVG at their best but the consistency and longevity hands down Phil Taylor

Check out when he won the 2009 European championship. Round 1 6-2 v toon greebe 111 average 4 180's Round 2 9-0 v Robert Thornton 110 average 6 180's Q/final 10-3 v Gary Anderson 118 average 10 180's Semi final v 11-3 jelle klaassen 109 average 10 180's Final 11-3 v Steve Beaton 109 average 7 180's Tournament average 111.54 And some don't think he would have lived with today's standard 😂
