A top class defender he was brave, tough, great in the air, good in both boxes, his positioning was great, his passing was so underrated and two footed, he was a proper leader/captain.

@@MatthewMcRowanFerdinand did get a red card (against Blackburn for a nasty high tackle on Robbie Savage), and has considerably less tackles in his career than Vidic. Vidic was levels above Ferdinand when it came to tackles, interceptions, and clearances. Ferdinand was only better than Vidic in passing.

I loved this guy and the partnership him and Rio had, especially in 08 when we let in like 20 goals or something the whole season. But i wonder why Rio does not get the same love. Personally Rio was a rolls royce. Vidic was a brute, but Rio kept Pique ( one of the best ball playing defenders ever) out the team. I think people should put more respect on Rios name
