I’ve absolutely loved Gareth’s time as manager. 30 years of watching football and I hadn’t seen a final, now I’ve seen two thanks to him. He’s helped build background infrastructure, given young players chances and made most of us appreciate our players and their talents as well as personalities and finally become respected by other countries. The numbers and stats don’t lie, and we’re closer to winning a trophy than ever, thanks to Gareth. He has my utmost respect and gratitude, thank you Gareth ✊🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿✊🏻

100% agree he's definitely built England onto a solid foundation that if the right people come in we will progress to the next level, but at the highest level the margins are so fine, if people think back if Lingard scored that sitter in the 1st half Vs Croatia, Rashford scored his penalty and not hit the post, Kane scored that penalty Vs France, and Rice or Guehi would have scored that header in the last minute, we would all be having different conversations.

'Taking the handbrake off' is not 0.1% of our problems, it's one of (if not the main) reason we haven't come away with a trophy over the last 8 years and that can't be levelled at the players, it's a tactical decision. Gareth Southgate has changed the structure of or international team for the better, that can't be denied, but he's had the propensity to not take the handbrake off for the vast majority of his tenure. Let's get a manager that's brave enough to do it.

You won't get it 'leemchale'. You won't get it. This is England we're talking about and we can NEVER get away from the Don Howe school of football and that is 'Let's not lose this game...'! Whilst that negative and defensive mindset is uppermost, we won't get the attacking football we all crave. England (nee, Britain!) is sh*t scared of embarrassment! It's in our culture and it's reflected in our football. Other teams aren't scared to express themselves that's why Spain were so beautiful upon they eye. In short: They went for it and showed absolutely NO FEAR! There's also a part of us that has to manage our expectations and for me, for the type of football England play, I think we did alright! Roll on 2026. 👏🏾❤

England had pound for pound one of the best if not the best squad in the tournament. The fact that they stumbled into the final isn’t a reflection of the team but of the coach. We’ve seen 45+10 min of a hungry english team that wants to go places. Unfortunately they continued to sit back and let the game get to them. The first real test in this tournament proved to be their downfall and they can be lucky to having made it this far. Moving forward they need a coach that not only can keep the press at bay but galvanise this team and add minute after minute of the team they can be.

Sorry Gary, but that was the problem - He did NOT learn from past mistakes and was way too defensive and refused to take players off who were not performing. Perfect example, Kane !! Watkins, Palmer, Toney and Gordon just warmed a bench in Germany for a month.

I would like to see Southgate as part of the Coaching Staff of the next Manager, no matter how boring the football has been at times he deserves to finally win something for his country. Plus it would help keep that togetherness that he's brought
@jonathanh9592
@jonathanh9592 Ай бұрын
Honestly completely agree with this. Say what you want about his tactics, he has brought a culture of togetherness to the team that has been missing the entire time. Bring in pep if you want, but if the players don't like him and he doesn't bring that same energy, the ship sinks just like the golden generation.
@willtallis5275

Togetherness players refusing to play him and his coaching staff only picking his favourites giving no minutes to proper wingers who could impacted the game but yet stuck with foden who won’t ever do anything for England refusing to drop Harry Kane other players don’t like and clearly see this time they wasn’t together and had enough of him let’s not sugar coat poor performances and mediocrity

Yea let's make Southgate assistant coach, brilliant idea. I loved how Roy Hodgson was sitting on his hands when playing out of form players and being slow at making changes. We know now where that influence comes from.

i don’t get the people saying klopp, obviously as a manager he’s the best available in world football right now but he’s german and he’s expressed his desire to manage germany one day, he knows if he goes to the german board tomorrow and asks for the job he’ll get it so why manage england? he’s said he needs a rest so i expect him to take just over a year off now then take charge of germany in late 2025 ready for the world cup

@@abuyusufabdulhakim952 England has a great squad of players. It’s really positive and you don’t even need a full squad of superstars to win but I don’t think “most England fans” expect to win every tournament like the Brazilians do (sometimes with even less justification than the English). So confidence is good, expecting good performances is good, expecting to get to the latter stages of tournaments is good but expecting to always win is odd.

Playing Kane injured cost us the euros taking Shaw injured also cost our shape and structure. I think Gareth messed up with those two decisions. Does an elite manager take that risk I think not. Question is who is an elite level English manager ready to take Gareth’s role.
