So many armchair managers lol, bunch of kids these days have no memory of england of old, going out in RO 16 every time lol. We been in 1 final and 2 semis in last 3 tournys and COULD well win this. Bumch of fifa heads you lot. Did you watch belgium, portugal and croatia? Dont expect to walk over these second rate teams. Everyone saying mainoo and palmer made a huge impqct completely disregard the fact they man marked us to the 60th amd got tired around then which let is made runs behind. I swear im watching a different game than some others at times. Keep talking from emotions lads, you look very lnowledgable.

Yes. The Slovenia match was essentially a must win game for us to avoid playing Germany, and Southgate couldn't even manage to do that. We just happened to get extremely lucky because Denmark failed to score, and now Southgate wants to be praised for topping the group? Absolute joke.

Uruguay and Argentina have a special system where their Players are seen as Internationals who are just training when they play for their Clubs. Coleman used that with Wales. England just look lost at Tournaments.

It should have been his last tournament four years ago. Every one bangs on about how successful he has been. The reality is that he has been given another chance every time he fails. He is the longest serving ‘manager’ only because of this. The final against Italy was the prelude to this national humiliation he has inflicted upon all of us who support the team and fly the flag. This is something he does not recognise nor ever will.

I find it telling that his way too late substitutes have been the only ones who actually show any promise or creativity, yet they’re put in beyond the 80-85 minute mark of each match. But we all know that Southgate hasn’t got the balls to deviate from his trusty players unless he’s actually forced to by injury. And for whatever reason he’s spent 2 matches playing TAA as a midfielder which has been a complete failure- instead of using the actual young and promising center mids he’s called up for this very moment. Basically every single way you can screw up this immensely talented group of players, this man has managed to do just that. I can’t wait for them to get knocked out at this point because it’s just painful watching them play. They will get knocked out the first decent side they play. Lucky for them they’re in the easier bracket

That's usually just the first match of the tournament or one group game - not all 3. We haven't got the resolve, determination or defensive prowess to do a Greece 2004 or Portugal 2016. We're going to have to play well more than once this tournament, unfortunately. Although, playing well once would be an improvement.

Southgate hasn't got a clue what he's doing. He'll make changes in the Slovakia game, and not because he knows what is needed to improve the performance of the team, but more to do with the pressure from media and fans for changes which up to now in this tournament he has been unwilling to do.

If it’s not his last tournament there will be no viewers left to watch the games! I seriously doubt it will matter though, the FA are only interested in hiring yes men most of the time so the odds we get anyone tactically astute are slim to none. It’s the FA that needs to be dealt with.

Mainoo must start, and Palmer (if he doesn't start) and Gordon need to come on with a good 30 minutes left to make a difference should we need to change it. In short tournaments it is necessary to make sure to kill the game from the start. After that you can rotate players and play other schemes. It's not a long league like clubs. It's not very important to show your playing style. Don't "wanna be" Pep, Klopp, Arteta, Ten Hag for the needs at the national team tournament level. Pure pragmatism is required. This mistake is being made by Southgate, Koeman, Roberto Martinez, Dalic. The national team coach doesn't need to show genius playing style. Let it flow in the certainty of winning each match. Too neat and beautiful won't be attractive if it doesn't produce anything, in this case.

England won’t bring it home, despite being in the easy part of the table. That’s not because of the coach in my view, but rather the defence and some overrated players such as Rice and Bellingham. Overall, the team didn’t bring the attractive football everyone expected, which may be down to the coach but the basic ingredients of success are missing in the team, even if some of the world’s best players (Kane, Foden) are also part of that team.

Southgate WILL leave after this tournament regardless. He almost left two years ago, remember this is what he said after Qatar; “I will not outstay my welcome. The last thing you want as a manager is that your presence is divisive and inhibits performance. I never want to be in a position where my presence is affecting the team in a negative way." We have now reached this juncture. Few more weeks and he’ll step down. It won’t matter whether the FA offer him a new deal. The noise around his decision making is becoming too loud for him to ignore now and becoming a detriment to the team’s performances - as we’re seeing play out, he’s even said this publicly now - so he knows it will be the right time to leave the position after these Euros.
