Chelsea are closing in on Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, with the Leicester boss now in prime position to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues have been impressed by the depth and breadth of his knowledge about their squad in talks with his representatives, and are impressed by his single-minded focus on the way Chelsea want to play and his desire for the job.
His obsession with possession and positional play have made him the leading candidate.

@@Rando.2xxNonsense! The penalty issue was as a result of Poch being lax with discipline it's why many of the players liked him. Enzo will straighten them out from the start besides Chelsea had the youngest squad in the PL last season so incidents like that shouldn't be a surprise. However, the team improved and grew in maturity till the end of the season.

Leicester fan here. Frankly in mixed feelings. I don't know whether I should think "Don't go, my hero" or "Maybe it's a good thing he moves away". Of course, he did a great job giving us promotion. But he really has a problem of lack of Plan B. Precisely, he really has problem about breking through a super defensive team. It happened a lot recently against Bristol City, Milwall, Plymouth, Blackburn especially. Always the same pattern: getting all the possession and attacking the whole game whithout any interesting chance and then conceding a counter-attack goal to finally lose. Just saying. Be careful of this manager.

Could Chelsea be making the same mistake when they appointed Graham Potter, it is not just about tactics, style of football, but it is also player management. I would have preferred De Zerbi or Gasperini of Atalanta who is highly underrated. Even when Chelsea went and brought in Lampard and Potter I always ask myself and tell people around me that Chelsea should go for Gasperini bcos he's so good the way I believe football should be played.
