Here are highlights from the 2019 Wood-Mizer open house in Woodvillage, Oregon. The LX 250 with a 54.5" slab capacity and the Slab-Mizer were two new awesome machines in action.

Great video man! I have been tempted to get a Woodmizer mill. I have been considering the LX250.

It's really nice that they make the effort to show most of their machines in one place. I still think my LX450 is the best machine for what I do, although the new LX250 would be helpful to bust open the big logs that I turn into beams. It's nice to see the interest from folks who want to run their own sawmills. Proof that all hope is not yet lost...

I think if I was to trade in my LT 35, it’d be on an LX 450. I just can’t give up being mobile.

2 potential upgrades I spotted. On the mills, why not add a horizontal roller with heavy spring to keep the roller pressed against the cutting edge so that you would never have to adjust the blade guide? Second would be on the slab mizer to add a secondary shaft to accept a second orbital sanding pad behing the travel of the first pad, so that you could do course and fine sanding in one pass.

I like the LX250. Is is rope drive or chain drive? I watched a video of an LX150 owner who had problems with the rope slipping on the pulley's when slabbing wide wood, which seem like it might be even more of a problem on the really wide slabs.
@NorthwestSawyer
@NorthwestSawyer 4 жыл бұрын
It’s chain-driven. If I remember correctly, it has a chain on each side.

What are your thoughts on a swing blade versus one of these type saws?
@NorthwestSawyer
@NorthwestSawyer 4 жыл бұрын
Well, I’ve never used a swing blade but it seems to me like they’re not as efficient as a band mill. There looks to be a lot of setup for each log. I think you’re pretty limited to the size of lumber you can make as well. I haven’t seen one that makes me wish I had one over my mill.

I don’t think there’s a market for a band mill that big. The WM 1000 can saw just over 5.5’. Other than that, chainsaw mills are the only things offered.
