New details have been revealed regarding Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell’s response to an active shooter scene last week that ended with him losing his life.
Sources told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell was working a shift he normally doesn’t cover and was riding alone in his squad car without a partner the evening he was gunned down on Blaisdell Avenue South.
Mitchell worked a mandatory overtime shift that day and because there is a shortage of officers, he was in a squad without a partner.

Contrary to popular belief, that "certain demographic" doesn't hate cops as much as you think. If that were the case, almost all major cities would have unsustainable police-to-citizen ratios, such as the city of Minneapolis.

Our city council members have blood on their hands. They rejected efforts by the Mayor and Chief to offer incentives for new hires.

There was a concerted plan to purge and demoralize police when the GF incident happened. It's plain as day. Why on earth would anyone sign up for the job when you're told "not" to do your job? Whatever happened to sending fleets of social workers out?

Even at approved 731 Officers allowed to be hired, MPD would still be understaffed. I remember a time when 900+ were budgeted. The city is growing. You need to increase not decrease the force.

Derek Chauvin needed to be sentenced. The reason there are staffing shortages is because of the city's lack of a spine. Prosecuting bad cops while maintaining police officer employment is very much possible, as can be seen in the likes of other metropolitan areas. Publicly-available autopsy report states Flyd died of a "cardiopulmonary arrest," and not of an overdose. He wasn't a good person, but it sets a bad precedent when a cop can get away with bad training practices that leads to the death of a suspect.

So they let a single office go to an active shooter call due to short staffing, and yet Hundreds of cops (I mean more than I've ever seen at one time here) show up within a half an hour.

Mpls police dept. better come up with a better plan and better incentives quick in how, they’re going to get more, recruits in working as a police officer in this society nowadays. Because, this low staffing isn’t working very, well. Officer Mitchell or any other, police officer ESPECIALLY, in Mpls should NEVER, ride alone! This is just, simply ascinine! Unfortunately, this incident with Officer Mitchell happened so, fast! However; we know if another Officer was with Mitchell things, would’ve been minimized substantially! God bless, all. 💙🙏🏻👮🏾‍♂️ Rip Officer Jamal Mitchell. And, needless to say, the police dept also, lost one, of their BEST besides. Just sad, this breaks my heart; he lost his life to a criminal with such a history. He shouldn’t of even, been in society. Wtf?! Some, of these people that work in “the system” are absolute, dumb asses. They’re not, capable of making good decisions because, they don’t have good reasoning skills; logic or common sense. Some, people just can’t do certain jobs they, don’t have the brain skills. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Double police officers pay . Hire annually on a crime curve, which ever ethnicity commits the most crime higher officers from that ethnicity .
