This is extremely nostalgic. Half my school was obsessed, a lot of kids started basketball just because of this anime. I think it's one of the best sports anime out there

The classic visuals and theme of this anime stands to me as perfect to this day, i would never in a million years wish for it to be animated with modern visuals

Slam Dunk is a legendary anime to most of Asian kids in 90s.This anime and Dragon Ball is top 2 anime in that area.

Here in Chile, Latin America, Slam Dunk is a huge anime. When the movie went to the cinemas it was on the top of attendance. I recommend to you to watch it, its a very good mix of humor, action, drama, coming to age anime. When you finish it, I suggest to continue with the manga and at the last watch the movie.

It was difficult to find anime series with the perfect opening and endings, this was one of those apart from Yuyu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Saint Seiya and Rurouni Kenshin This was practically done the old way that's why it's so beautiful to see the graphics and the powerful singing voices that it's almost impossible to find them now.

I like this era of anime music. I remember Slam Dunk trading cards from 1993 or 1994.

The only anime that all op and ed are just PERFECT. Slam Dunk is an absolute masterpiece that i recommend you to watch. Unfortunately, it was cancelled because of disagrees between the author and TOEI animation hwo wanted to change the ending but he refused and TOEI decided to end the anime before the final arc :( The franchise resurrected with a CGI movie, so i hope that makes Slam Dunk come back some day 😄

The animation of this anime is well done, the story is very good, the thing is, it´s old good anime, so the music is very 80´s style, the animation too, but the jokes and as an sport anime, I think that probably only Haikyyu is at the same level, both have the proper balance of jokes, sport action, love for the game and drama, the interaction between characters is amazing. The proportion and details, the style is very realistic. You could check in Wikipedia the year when it was on air, from 1993 to 1996. So is early to mid 90's. It have 4 very good OVAs and one recent movie. The manga is amazing. It have a good ending and it also have the same playful vibe that the original anime have. Recently a movie was made, but the movie even with a story of one of the characters, is not a good movie because the animation style is different and the studio that made it, mainly the direction of animation, is different, is more realistic and loses the playful vibe the original animation had, the jokes are not there, the focus on the main character is not there. If you expected to see the old anime style and vibe, is not there. I totally recomend it , is not a waste of time, is amazing, it's sad that the anime did not cover the National Tournament Arc, if it is possible find it subtitled, it is a very good Sport-Comedy (Spokon) anime. With jokes and entertainment to the level of GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, with the right amount of Drama. Also it explain some basic aspects of the sport in a very funny and relaxed way.
