Final episode of Slayers Evolution-R. Lina and friends have to take on Shabranigdo's ghost who gained the control of Rezo's spirit and awakened inside Prince Pokota's body. The only way to defeat the Daemon King is to use a forbidden spell, the Giga Slave, which calls upon the Lord of Nightmares, the Golden Lord Lucifer, to obtain its power.

Much as it pains me to admit, since it WAS a childhood dream of mine to become an anime voice actor, there's a reason Anime Voice Acting is such a tightly knit group. There's no room for mediocre. You're either totally forgettable and thus at best fill bit to perhaps occasionally lower level supporting roles...or you have a way with the voice and passion that catapults you to our equivalent of a Star.

We cant ignore Gourry blocking a full power beam from that demon. Yeah the sword deflected the blow but he had to have the strength too also deflect it. Gourry is so underrated, Lina is awesome as usual but Gourry really out here fighting demons with no magical powers

If I remember correctly, the author stated that Gourry has greater potential in magic than even Lina, but he's too dull to be able to make use of it. Plus, we learned in NEXT that the sword of light is able to absorb and deflect a dragon slave, so that certainly helps too

Gotta remember this guy when he was mind controlled straight up used full counter on dragon slave and threw it back at Lina like it was nothing, also the sword can also act as a focal point for the giga slave.

The fact that Lina Inverse decided to not let the Lord of Nightmares control her tells me one thing. Lina Inverse became able to resist compared to how she was in Slayers Next when she last fired off a fully powered giga slave.

To be fair, she probably would have been able to do it back in NEXT as well, the reason Lord of Nightmares took over for a bit that time was because Lina was directly attacked while casting the spell and the interruption caused her to lose control of its power.

What if Lina's eyes glowed gold was a sign that L-sama decided to see what the situation was and then allowed the Giga Slave to complete. L-Sama knows that Lina is the only person that has that spell so why would she risk the shaft again.

@@accelriderx2931 L-Sama could tell what was going on and in a move that completely baffled Hellmaster, L-Sama 'avenged' Lina without actually saying that she was doing so. Like you said, Hellmaster did a flagrant foul on Lina during mid-cast, ruining it, and L-Sama took offense to that. It almost felt like a 'pick on someone your own size' moment for L-Sama against Phibrizzo. She was gonna take Lina's body, but in respect for Lina's 'final wishes' she was going to accomplish what was in her heart before she 'died', which for an entity like her is actually pretty respectful. But if certain fan lore is to be believed, humans embody the Chaos that she herself is, therefore she has more 'affinity' for them than either the Dragons or Mazoku.

Lina is the only one that can cast that spell. The only reason the spell took her over against hellmaster is because he attacked her when she had the giga slave in her hand and it fell on her. That ball of golden light is the lord of nightmares appearing on the earth. If Lina throws the ball then it attacks anything she aims it towards if it falls on her the power takes over her body. This is why she's the chaos knight.

Actually your a bit incorrect sorry,(Also I realized this is a 5yr post) Lena Inverse had stated herself that her sister taught the Giga Slav Spell to her so there's technically two casters.. of the spell the thing is her sister forbade Lena from using the spell because of the danger it presents.. she gave her the knowledge she wasn't supposed to impliment said knowledge.. Lena simply doesn't listen.. her sister is also far stronger than she was at that time..which was the third arc Try I believe it was called.. I'm not sure is she surpassed her older sister by the fourth season though, her older sister works as a waitress to pay for her daughter's intuition. Also Lena got a letter from her telling her to help the golden dragons or she'd kill her.. Lena was so terrified she built an Egyptian pyramid all the writing a coffin and hid herself inside it.. The Author stated her older sister is 10x stronger than Xellos. And that's utterly terrifying.. If Lena is barely on par with 1 Xellos in his "human" form, someone so strong she's equal to 10 of him at full-power in his released state..is this person still "human" at this point?? great gob she sounds like some kind of monster that demon lords sh-t themselves upon hearing her name.. @@vinny8589 The reason Line sealed Gigaslave is because she developed it herself and on her first use she *vaporised an entire coastline* she then developed a more controlled version called Ragna Blade.

@@Coramelimane You actually see how she got the Ragna Blade in Slayers Next. It was in a book that someone took time and effort to destory parts of the incantation. In Slayers Try she has more control over the Ragna Blade than she did in Next as she knew first hand what type of power she was using.

@@josemariparadeza5078 There is a bigger change from Next to Try Ragna Blade's design. Yes, she got more control after seeing the Claire Bible, but the blade was still wild as seen during her fight with Hellmaster, but in Try it pretty much stayed a controlled blade.

Never got why shabranigdos & Rezos soul existed in Evolution R, it was strongly implied that when u get hit by the Giga Slave u get hit by LON in other words u sink into the sea of chaos and u become part of LON again

The first time Lina cast the Giga-slave, it was incomplete and got fused with the sword of light. So it was more like taking a glancing blow from L-sama. The second time Lina cast it against Phibrizzo, he interrupted the spell and caused L-sama to manifest in Lina. L-sama, being the mother of all things, proceeded to give Phibrizzo the spanking of his existence for being a naughty boy. The Giga-Slave cast here? Correctly cast, and uninterrupted. Lina summoned L-sama into existence as the black doom sphere, cast it into the air, and let L-sama manifest as a black hole that om-nommed Shabrinigdu. The other thing to keep in mind is that ol' Ruby-Eye isn't completely destroyed. In the Time Before, shabby was defeated and broken into a number of pieces that were scattered across the world. In the first season, Lina defeats the piece that had manifested in Rezo's eyes. This scene here is just Lina defeating another piece. If Lina were to defeat ALL the fragments, she would actually lose a good chunk of her abilities, since Shabby is the source of black magic. Can't cast the spell that summons Ruby-Eye's power if Ruby-Eye is gone. It makes me wonder where the story of this world is going if Lina keeps having to call 'Mom' to come spank the bad children.

@@atigerclaw Actually it is the same fragment that she killed with the incomplete version. He used a jar to use Pakota's real body, which is why Pakota is in the doll. The jar that Pakota broke was the one that was the one used. Normally Xelloss wouldn't be able to stand up to Ruby eyes, seeing that Ruby-eyes is his boss's boss, but with the fragment already died once he could.

Of course since this is actually the ghost of the original Shard of Shabranigdo that Lina already defeated that means there are still six of the seven remaining. At least I think it was seven shards he was broken into I could be wrong.

I find it strange that Lina is willing to cast the Ragna Blade but not the Giga Slave. Both spells originate their power from the Lord of Nightmares so they should be equally as dangerous. Quote: "My Mind is my power, power is my Mind. When uncorrupted by other elements, my Mind becomes my purest power."

Ragna Blade does pull power but is given a shape, the Giga Slave just pulls power from the Lord of Nightmares, which is why Lina rather cast Ragna Blade than the Giga Slave.

@@trisertricordoh2127 Even if its given a shape, it is still the Lord of Nightmares' power (mind). All is as the Lord wills it to be so it could easily go out of control. A shape is not an element that corrupts it and even when it is corrupted, it's still her mind. In the anime, although it appears shaped, the energy clearly spirals outside the shape as well so that shape isn't doing a very good job.

@@kyled00m Well, the incantation is very different. My guess it draws the excess energy that LoN gives off, which gives the Ragna Blade it's unique appearance. Or it could be that since the incantation references a sword, it might be a spell that LoN made to generate weapons using her power.

@@kyled00m The Ragna Blade is much smaller in scale and is something Lina learns from the Claire Bibble in Next. Think of it as Deku using a fraction of One for All. Lina initially misunderstands the nature of L-Sama, so she assumes the Giga Slave is like the Dragon Slave and just borrows power, but because L-Sama has lost her original form, she exists as nebulous energy, thus the Giga Slave is a full conduit to calling her forth. In OG Slayers, Lina did not understand the true nature of L-Sama, so the chaos words she used to cast the spell were incomplete. That is why Next is about leading Lina to the Claire Bible so she could learn the proper incantation.It's a little different in the Light Novels as IIRC Lina already knows the Ragna Blade and only skipped to the Giga Slave against Shabranigdu because she didn't understand the danger in using it. That's the long-winded lore explanation as far as I remember from the light novels.

@@Cav829 Thanks for the reply. I find it odd but at least it has more reasoning behind it. For the ranga blade spell, I guess it's best we assume L-sama is actively limiting the portion of her power that is summoned and how it interacts with the world. I say this because L-sama didn't want to become the nebulous of energy that (s)he is. Fight-o, L-sama!

the eyes of Lina a glow gold for 2 second and after she throw the spell! and NO the Lord of Nightmares is NOT Lucifer, the lord of Nightmares is a Goddess of darkness and mother of all chaos and creator of all the Monster race in the serie, she the Dark lord of all dark lord, all the other Gods fear of her power, this is why is not many books with the wisdom of how to use her Power, only Lina a fond it, to me, Lina IS the reborn lord of Nightmares, but she have two soul, Lina soul and the soul of LON, this is why she can cast those crazy spell and survive from it

You see Queen Metalia, Death Phantom Pharaoh 90 and Nehelenia were all a part of me Chaos. It even said that she caused so much damage to the cosmos that even Queen Serenity couldn't restore it nor stop her rampage! Some people suspect that Sailor Saturn/Xelloss is somehow tied in with her in particular the silence glaive she wields! Its easy to see from the images of L-sama she is Lina Inverse, its also evident she is Sailor Venus whom always called herself the Goddess. Lucifer/Lucetius also means Venus! She would indeed have two souls as one because she is light and dark! Darker than blackest night, and more radiant than the brightest sun! Venus is the golden scout, and L-sama is the golden lord! Lina is Mina Aino! Amelia is Ami! Musuno! Xelloss is Hotaru Tomoe!

@@ChibiProwl I think the lord of nightmares is neutral. But I also think the lord of nights is also the lord of creation and destruction. I think that's why the no entity that is on the power level of the dark lords or the opposing force of them can survive the giga slave. Since that power is drawn from the creator of the Universe I think.

Dark Star wasn't actually killed, the spell she cast split him and Vorfeed apart and sent them back to the Black World - if it had killed him her power borrowing spell wouldn't work since one of the 4 dark lords would be dead.

@@J.G.H. First off, Dark Star wasn't one of the four dark lords. He's from another reality. Secondly, there are only two Dark Lords remaining. Demon Dragon King Gaav is dead, as is Hellmaster Phibrizzo. That leaves Beastmaster Xelas and...what was her name...Chaos Dolphin? The supposedly insane one.

Atleast Scrappy-Doo by all accounts I can find (last I looked into it) actually saved the Scooby Doo Ip as it was going to get axed and not be brought back if the ratings didn't drastically rise up and stay at a decent rating point .. Which Scrappy-doo got that to be a thing... Pokota on the other hand I don't see a reasonable matter he was made in the first place or why he was even was put in so much unless he was liked enough that he brought in enough money from merchandise and thus put in more

@@Orbitten Man I hated him. Hate his visual design, hate that he's a toy animal. Hate that he's a 10 year, hate that this random 10 year old randomly got introduced with legendary power. Didn't like his involvement with the tanks, thought it was ridiculous that he of course built them. It also went nowhere and nowhere interesting. Didn't like the new sword of light. Didn't like the arc he had with the Tiger person and Zanafar and I think that arc ruined the previous season. I think they also butchered Zanafar. Didn't enjoy the jokes or comic relief involving him either. I find a lot of the other characters much more interesting and especially their interactions with Lina. I did not at all find Pokota's interactions with Lina interesting and unfortunately way too much time was spent on them. I wish him and his brother (or whatever the tiger guy was.) hadn't been introduced. I actually thought being able to experience the aftermath of Rezo's impact on the world was actually a cool idea but didn't like how it was executed at all.

And it's not like lina was the only one who could cast dragon slave before Pokota showed up. I honestly think his design is why people don't like him. Not the best reason to me.

...Only Lina would wield the kind of horsepower needed to actually WEAKEN....A GOD. God's in this world have limited power? What kind of an idiot makes a deal with humans wherein they draw not ON that power, but draw the power ITSELF out and away? Even if they keep to oath, "I pledge myself to darkness....to use this power to slay the foes who stand before us", it's STILL /WEAKENING/ the very being that Oath is designed to benefit. *scratches head* Gods that make mistakes. What a novel concept.

HotaruZoku Too be far Shabranigodo is more of a "Lesser God" with vast but limited power and this is just a ghost of a fragment of him. The only True God with Omnipotent power in Slayers Multiverse is the Lord of Nightmares.

Because xellos's master and lord is lord beast master Zelas Metallium, not Shabranigdo.

@@TheHalcyonView This piece of Shabranigdo was revived through a human soul, so he's only a "ghost" of the dark lord they serve. It's basically the same thing that they went through with Gaav in NEXT, they consider him a renegade as he's no longer a proper monster in his current state.

Like Xellos said himself that though the monster race wants to destroy the world, it is because they seek free will not destruction for destructions sake. He has forgotten the wish that the monsters strive for and no longer has the right to carry it out.

Fun Fact apparently Lena's older sister is 10x stronger than an "Unleashed" Xellos.. Lena is utterly terrified of her to the point of building an Egyptian pyramid, tomb, and hiding herself underground in it. Wrong. Luna is about the same power level as Xellos since she is the Knight of Ceipheed but we all know Xellos would win due to his speed and astral attack in his true form, the black top.

@@robertprobst3836 I don't know...one would think a Knight of Ceipheed would be granted more power than a Demon Lord's minion. Even one as unique as Xellos, being both General and Priest. In truth, we have no idea just how strong Luna is and how much power she has been granted aside from her own innate gifts.

As a child, Lina decided to make money by casting a spell that basically spied on Luna in the bath for guys to ogle at. Luna didn't like that. The rage and power Luna displayed terrified Lina to the point of trauma, causing her to flee her hometown and never return. The letter you mentioned read, "Shut up and do it. - Sis".

En realidad creo que fue una oportunidad desperdiciada, podrían haber contado lo que sucedía en las novelas ligeras, con Luke y Millina, es buenísima esa historia, pero prefirieron inventarse todo un relato nuevo (como Slayers Try🤦)y volver a un enemigo ya derrotado y desaparecido. O por lo menos hubiesen enfrentado a otro de los restantes 6 trozos que quedaban de Shabranigdo. Aún así no pierdo las esperanzas de ver a Sherra, Dynast, Mephy y demás personajes animados alguna vez.

Whaaat? David Moo was horrible. Too nasally and snide. Xellos is supposed to have a calming, soothing voice to go along with his placid expression. It's his disguise. As for your question...it's difficult to answer. What we see here is the resurrected PIECE of the Demon Lord Shabranigdo. So she didn't kill Shabranigdo exactly...just lessened his soul by 1/7th, I guess? She better not make a habit of it or there won't be any Shabranigdo left to summon a Dragon Slave from.

With re-using Rezo (again, for the - for God sake - 3rd time) and parted Shabranigdo (again, for the 2nd time) Slayers Revolution and Evolution-R just sealed it's fate as unoriginal, repetitive and mediocre (at best) continuation of original trilogy, not to mention TRY wasn't even canon, yet they still made out batter story and villains than the new seasons. Like imagine, You have this VAST world or magic, secret, demons, gods, mysteries and treasures and they couldn't think of something original but had to bring back overused already Rezo and Shabranigdo. Not to mention that the whole "plot" with Pocota's "frozen nation" was nothing new neither, it was kinda overusing the old story from (if I'm not mistaken) 2/3 parter from NEXT in which ex-master of Magic Association made a deal with monster (Gaav's general or priest - I' dont remember it that well - named Saygram) to freeze his dead fiance and bring her back to life. On one hand it was cool to visit again the world of Slayers, it was cool to see again characters we grew up with years ago, but then again it was nothing, but a fanservice over fanservice (sword of light, Naga as Nana - living armor, Rezo, Shabranigdo etc.), mediocre villains, unoriginal, re-used tropes. I'd love to see proper continuation of TRY, to see how some of our beloved characters story arcs are finished. There is no need for said continuation to be based upon canonical stories, it can be based on them, just as TRY was, we would just need good understanding and right treatment of our characters. I'm not a writer, nor a good story teller but it just feels so weird to me that of all motives they could think of while making "Revo/Evo-R" they went with "finding right replacement for Gourry sword" while we knew very well from first Slayers that he actually used a normal sword and used SoL only in critical situations. Why not going with Zelgadis quest of finding a way to cure his body? Why not develop relations between our characters? Like we knew that Lina and Gourry are close with each other, they keep on travelling together for a long time with no made up reason for it (like Lina used to do). We knew that at the end of TRY Amelia ended up doing her royal duties thinking of Zel, while he was on a journey on some wasteland with one of her bracelets attached to his canteen (surely, not just a "friendly gift"). They knew they won't be able to make a continuation, so they made this suggestions for us, fans, during end credits of 3rd season. What continuation did with it? Nothing, they just reset everything for sake of what? Fanservice? Trying to replicate THE and NEXT vibes? I still hope for, if not continuation of try, then at least some kind of OVA or stand alone movie with Lina and Naga. Time is right and won't be better - fantasy genre made a huge comeback with "Sousou no Frieren" and "Dungeon Meshi" - both really great tittles.

The only thing that bothered me about this season was the change in VA for Xellos in english dub. Other than that I enjoyed this season of the Slayers.

With so much time between the two dubs, not everyone involved in the original was still working. Yet, we've heard Lisa Ortiz, Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart and Crispin Freeman in many things since then, which is why they were still available. It looks like David Moo's final voice acting credit was in 2005, and this particular dub appears to have began in 2009. While it would have been cool to have his voice back, it does make sense that he couldn't

@@Stormkrow280 Though you do note that she does get tired from firing Dragon Slaves at Ruby Eye. The reason she was still able to cast Giga Slave, was due to L-sama bypassing the cost, Lina's eye glowed gold for a few seconds right as the spell finishes, and thanks to the Next season (Season 2) we find out that the Giga Slave just doesn't pull power it is L-sama.

If you watch her eyes during her casting of it it shines gold for a few moments and the spell completes. Thus the Lord of Nightmares allowed Lina to freely cast it for that one time with what ever power she had left.

What could such a being expect of one in the form of a favor that it would find sufficient compensation for, even temporarily, BENDING THE VERY PRINCIPLES OF MAGIC ITSELF to a mortal's personal convenience? *shudder*

HotaruZoku Who know how the Lord of Nightmares thinks, remember her power is her mind thus she could just allow a little or a lot of it at her own whim. Not to say that Lina wouldn't have any repercussions due to this just that the cost was negated for a whim.

@xellossaxon well LON is chaos itself, so there is no sense in his actions. If LON wants it he can borrow his powers or come to the world or anihilate Lina. Its.very convenient for the plt

i have been a slayers fan since i was 4 years old, it was my first anime. but this...these 2 seasons are complete garbage. "I cast the giga slave once before" "i used it to save gourry" so by this logic she only cast the spell against fabrizo, which would completely invalidate the fact that she cast it against the real shard of shabranigdo in season 1, and also against rezo/zanafar at the end of season 1, and also the attempt at casting it in slayers try against dugradigdo. so what fucking canon was these 2 seasons? plus when they met up with sylphiel it felt like they never met her before, but they knew xellos. i wish we got slayers again instead of revolution and evolution-r. this was the BIGGEST disappointment in my entire life with anime.

She casts the completed Giga slave once before, the ones she used in the first series is an incomplete version as all she had was a book that someone took time to damage to destroy the spell. She recreated it but not completed it till she visited Aunty Aqua's library, and used the book that she got the Ragna Blade from, which also someone tried to destroy. Sylphiel became a background character by this point as Amelia, Goury, Zel, and Lina are the main characters with Xelloss as a recurring character with main character role. Even Prince Phil is relagaded to being a side character and he was important to both the first and second seasons. Note each time she has used the Giga Slave uninterrupted that chant has changed each time.

@@trisertricordoh2127 there some wrong info here 1. Giga slave was a lina original nothing stating that points to what you said. 2. no one tried to hide or destroy ragna blade it was just the book she gotten from had wrong information about the spell.
