the fact you are not mad cuz you actually haven't eaten the dishes, so you cannot imagine the taste of the food (for instance, the Dosa) so when we indians imagine how horrible will it taste when is mixed with an another food it gross us out and to be very very it will taste really horrible.

Jaby, here in India..Dosa is a identified as a South Indian dish..Served with spicy curry (Sambar) and Coconut Chutney..which tastes great. But eventually the dosa makers made a light dish so heavy and terrible by adding cheese, butter, mayo and other veggies..Though it would taste great but not have typical taste of Dosa..! Masala Dosa by the way tastes great which is served with smashed and fried potatoes..Point is that dosa being a simple and light dish..People ruined it for sake of trying something new..! :(

I have one question for you. Did you look up the dish that Achara was referring to? Because I have seen that dish in some videos. Its like a dosa ice cream sandwich. The crêpe/dosa is called roti is known as bread to them. I have lived wtih a local family in kerela and they have many times fed me a kind of pancake in the name of roti. Also look up jala roti which is an Indonesian/Singaporean dish. You should keep in mind that like how you call all tea as chai many people also associate many flat bread as roti because of their origin/history.

Achara, as always, was on point. As a foreigner who doesn't eat these often, I can see why roti/dosa as a dessert would sound appetising to you guys but as an Indian, you've probably never even thought of these combinations. We're less prone to experimenting with traditional food, a lot like Italians.

Most ingredients like potatoes, tomatoes, cahsews, corn introduced during and after the Columbian exchange were foreign to India, Italy, and to the rest of the Afro-Eurasian world. Those foods were incorporated into the local cuisine and catered to the local tastes. All these modern foods we love are direct result of fusion cooking one away or another. So, our ancestors have been experimenting with their meals for millennia, but we take it for granted that it has always been like that

Dosa is basically fermented rice and salt which means its almost bland with a little salt(not completely but you will feel the salt if you eat the entire base ) which is where you add the spices and vegetables and served with chuntey( chilly and coconut blend ) and sambar ( chilly powder and vegetable stew ) The whole thing cooked on a flat top with butter brings it together and the batter is spread in a swirl creating the dosa as thick and crispy concentric circles so you can imagine why this salty and spicy and flavourful dish seems so bad exactly why putting sweet ice cream/heavy cheese and magi on a mild soy sauce seems like an insult

But have you tried it? I mean a savory dosa with a sweet ice cream? Dosa doesn't have much taste om its own without the addons like spices potatoes, sambar, chutney. Its just a lil funky crêpe due the fermentation. I think it will go nicely with something sweet. If people can eat shahi tukda, kheer puri why not ice cream dosa?

14:55 dosa is like a savoury thin thing with crepe like texture and mainly a potato filling. It is made from rice batter and would definitely not go well with sweet stuff like Icecream or syrup

@@pragyasankar5413 it's your personal choice, we are talking about traditional dishes and how they don't contain cheese. Recently people have started putting cheese on every dish that is little savoury, but it doesn't change the fact that original versions of this food don't contain cheese at all. And putting cheese on them is ruining their authentic taste and just making them a variation of pizza and noodles.

The reason he's being mad at all these dishes is because some traditional dishes should be kept as they are. That dosa for example, there's so much topping on it, that you can't eat the dosa for the taste of the dosa.

well you must have seen fruit chat....it contains fried fruit such as fried apple. so if made properly, a lot of flavours can complement other flavours that we don't expect.

I was just giving a general example that even fruits can be fried .. ps: apple pakoda should taste good because apple gets caramelized after being fried..so it might taste good...but still it's just a speculation on my part😅

Just like how you guys didn't like those cakes getting destroyed with ketchup and curry, we don't like our foods getting destroyed with stuffs that aren't meant to be added to them. There is a way of making and eating certain stuffs and changing those ways will make them straight up gross. Experimenting is good but you know, some experiments can be termed gross just by looking at them. 😂 That's it.

7:00 In India, roti\chapati is like the main item you can rest anything with it specially the vegies, curries, etc. Are liquid kinda thing or salad kinda thing and we didn't had spoons and forks before British came here so we used rotis to gather 1-2 pieces of the vegies salad or to gather the gallop of curries and eat. Otherwise, toh can't just drink it like a milkshake they are all spicy stuff 😅✌️ so that's why rotis and other types of bread and pan cakes are like the main, most important thing in our meal.

Dosa is actually supposed to be very very crisp , its not like pizza , it changes if the crust becomes soggy , its not a dosa anymore . Also the main hero of dosa is the white crust actually , so if you put a lot of toppings you wont feel the taste of crust anymore . Thus it cannot be called a dosa , no matter how tasty it is .

actually the fruit pakoda for eg apple pakoda is wayyyyyyyyyy different than apple pie,the frying batter in india is made from spices like turmeric so its like sweet fruit with savoury batter likewise with dosa,agreed it is kind of neutral but its eaten with spicy and savoury stuff like sambhar,for example it like ice cream tortilla and many people wouldnt recommend that.

Dosa is supposed to be Savory that's why you have chutneys (sauces) with them but if you keep a ice cream over dosa and eat with the chutneys it doesn't go that way chutneys are Savory that's probably why we hate whenever they do that 🙃

Dosa is actually made after fermenting lentils and rice , which goes well with some spicy curry such as sambar and chutney on side . But nowadays it's common to see varieties of it everywhere .
