@@TealBricksinParadisa To be honest, your train is so much cooler than LEGO's new express passenger train. I like the new LEGO train but your design is just stunning. When I recover from yesterday's cost (US$ 650 for 2x 60337, 1x 60336 and 1x 60335.. and some other stuff) I will try to replicate your design. I'll probably make all the cars a little longer though... that's a bad habit of mine. ;-) A sleeping car is an excellent idea.. and of course an observation car is needed.Thanks again for sharing.

@@kexysbrickbuilts Haha yeah, I'm gonna have to recover from yesterday's expenses as well. (just thinking out loud haha)--> 8-wide makes the sleeping cabins do-able whereas the 6-wide just wasn't practical for sleeping cabins. A narrow 2wide hallway with the help of the 1x4x3 window panels for minifigure shoulder room. And the remaining 4 studs inside to create the cabins with bunk beds. I'm happy to see you like the design!

If you wanted to a food service, you could make a seperate buffet car with an offset aisle - that way you can keep your walkthrough design. Very cool, LOVE the curves on the loco.

Those porsche curves look great for the nose. It always disappoints me when Lego uses huge, bespoke elements for their passenger train noses, but when they don't, as in the 2010 and 2022 passenger trains, it ends up looking rough and blocky. Disappointment either way! (the 2010 one is still my fav of all time tho) This is a perfect middle ground, using existing large curved elements for that smooth look, while preserving the spirit of buildability that lego should have. It's a shame that these particular curves aren't suited for a 6-wide model, otherwise I could imagine an official version of 60337 with them!
@TealBricksinParadisa
@TealBricksinParadisa 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the porsche curves seem as though they were made for it! I really think Lego needs to consider producing a portfolio of left/right compound curvature (curved along all three x-y-z axis) elements for more versatile creativity in organic curved shapes on vessels such as airplanes/ helicopters/ trains/ ships/ submarines noses & hulls!

This is your best video. I've watched all of your stuff and you were the most comfortable sounding when presenting this that I have heard yet. The design here is fantastic, and I don't think you need to worry about the illegal build technique in the front cowling of the train at all. I have come to understand that the main reason to categorize a build technique as illegal is because it puts too much stress on the Lego parts and can cause damage over time, and your build certainly doesn't do that. Excellent work.

I just saw your comment about updating the slopes to fit more flush, that is excellent! you should do a follow-up video some time showing the tweaks and improvements you've done to MOCs since you first showed them off in older videos, and compare them. I think everyone would love to see that!

Hey Etienne! I really appreciate the positive feedback! I've long been aware that my vocals, articulation and speaking comfortably is one of my kryptonites and even after making videos for a year and a half its still something I have to accomodate. Aka: lots of editing and even having to re-record often; 🤦🏻‍♂️! So you're feedback made it feel worth it! I'm happy you liked the train!! I like your idea of 'update' videos! After doing just that to the Garbage truck, I already have plans to bring out 'update' videos, starting with the next video. I've got major overhauls done to the buses, the flatbed tow truck, Cargomaster crane and a few others and I'm excited to show them. Although I still need to balance it out with new MOC content as well so I don't fall further behind and also not to bore people with things they've already seen. The Boutique hotel/City update, an all new bus and the new Mobile crane are coming up very soon too!

Teal, you have two options with the wagon to wagon, walkways. One, brackets with plates & flat plates, giving you the profile of the rubber corridor protection. Sure, still a gap, but might let you get a better visual effect. Two, shared boggies, enough six wide trains that have this MOCed into or just looking at the Lego TGV. Do suggest finishing the train, though, it needs another motor-wagon (locomotive) and three passengier wagons.

Alert: I've just done some trouble shooting on why the bass beats in the music for the beginning action sequence sounds terrible. It sounds terrific within the iMovie editing software but terrible in the saved .mov file it exported. I exported it as per my usual settings (YT export) so not sure why iMovie messed it up during the export. Hella not cool! Update! I was able to correct the misalignment of the two large 1x8x4 slopes! the face of the train now aligns completely flush!

15:57 as a person who has to help his disabled mom and push her in a wheelchair when she is unable to walk on her own, due to her right side of her body being affected by a stroke back in 2016; I would say that the scale of the wheelchair and the standard door in LEGO is more accurate than it should. Maybe lego should make a 5-stud door in the future, it’d be nice to see a bigger variety of doors. 25:00 The LEGO train scale is strange to me, when the cars are still in different sizes of 4-studs through 8-studs but most of their trains are mostly stuck with 6-8 studs. I’m honestly not sure what my preferred scale is atm when I would want to be as accurate as possible like speed champions, but be suitable for minifigure size. I’m just trying to make them suitable for my view of scale.
@TealBricksinParadisa
@TealBricksinParadisa 2 жыл бұрын
It can't be easy to provide that level of help to someone who can't walk and I think it's incredibly awesome that you are there for your mom to help her! And I definitely find your feedback helpful! I've actually had the opposite idea for a while!..4 stud wide doors would be the wider building doors we see in real life (wheelchair accessible, re-mold the wheelchair to fit) and that it would be VERY useful if lego made a 3 wide door! 3-wide door/frame would be VERY versatile piece as a door primarily seen on vehicles such as buses (the entrance door ahead of the front wheel), trains, campers/RVs, science lab rigs, airplane/spaceship cockpit doors, compact bathroom doors inside (buses/RVs/airplanes), refrigerator doors, closet doors in buildings and possibly even storage cabinets on utility trucks when turned sideways...these are all applications where 4 wide is too wide. [Note: the existing right/left car style doors 58380 dont really work as 3 wide because the opening is more like 2 wide instead]

Great video Hans! I really like how you made these trains 8 Studs wide instead of 6 Studs wide! It really made the interior more spacious for the minifigs instead of being cramped like in the sets! I actually kinda prefer your design for this train over the actuall set! I think that the set makes the train look a little too futuristic! It was really smart of you to put the battery really low to make the train de-railing less likely! Great job!

8W is the way. The future is 8W and proper proportion carriages, no more of this teeny weeny carriages we need to apply the 5X-RULE. So in the real world a passenger carriage length is roughly 5 times its height. So if your carriage is 8 bricks high by the 5X-RULE it should be 5x8= 40 bricks long. Once you build them you will see how right they look and you will never go back.

Great video teal bricks! I really liked the intro! And that stop motion was sick!😄 and I think you did a really good job on the design of this. I love the glass all the way around and especially how it slopes extremely steep in the front, I think lego is more of a shallow slope but yours just really brings it all out. and how fast do you think this can go? And i really like how it looks super modern! 🤙 and the 6 stud wide doors are a cool Feature! Also I wish lego would make better trains I feel like their trains aren't that good, especially they aren't too fast and I kind of wish they were little bit more Compact ,so we would have more building interiors and I really wish they had this much shape as yours does! Great job as always!

Thanks Jo!! I'm glad you like it! and glad you liked the action sequence (stop motion)! I thought it would be funny to do some sort of Mission Impossible or spiderman style action scene on the top of the train 😆 I used the same exact 1x8x4 slope as the actual set! Yeah Lego trains are severely limited in details and play features due to the smaller scale, however, ignoring scale, their train sets are pretty good sets overall, I think.

Life, MOCs and video editing are all consuming and I've got a backlog of MOCs to make videos for. However, I think this train is worthy of exception to the rule. It'll probably take me about 3-4 weeks to put together instructions and a bricklink part list as well as flush out some unfinished details on the design itself. I'll let you know when I get it completed! 👍👍

@@TealBricksinParadisa that is awesome! It is hard to find good 8 wide passenger trains with instructions and parts lists, and this train is just beautiful. I have only 8 wide freight trains on the layout and have been trying to find a good 8 wide passenger train. The r120 curves from bricktracks pair perfectly with the 8 wide size. I ordered 2 of the regular lego trains to play around with for now, and then ill tear it down and use the parts from it to help with this build. Be sure to charge for the instructions for all the work that goes into them! I know I and I'm sure many others will happily pay for them!

@@FLYxxBOY Nice! Great to hear that 8-wide is already your default standard! Since you mentioned you already bought a couple of the sets already I've just began going through the instructions and seeing what pieces can be used..considering my version differs by quite a bit from the actual set. I'm looking at trying to incorporate the large lime green 1x8x4 slope into it, so it's not wasted. But also means the green stripe will joggle down at the front (as tastefully as possible). I'll likely include alternate PNs and options in the instructions in critical parts of the train.

21:30 Would it be possible if you made the two ends of the car curve in and add another point of articulation (e.g. Technic pin, turntable, or just resting on tiles) on each, then have a gangway section built separately but attached to those two end cars (roughly in the shape of: > (one car), >=< (gangway), < (next car))? I noticed this on a tram in real life in Budapest one time, and looking it up, it was a Siemens Combino Supra model. I’ve never really seen that kind of design with LEGO trains but it would be cool if you perhaps gave it a shot! I just discovered your channel recently from the autonomous tram/bus and am intrigued by the futuristic concept. I like your design solution for the smooth, curved nose which looks very realistic! I also love how the 8-wide conversion opens up so much more room for interior details, which is something I really care about. Excited for more of your mods of LEGO sets!

Impeccable timing with your suggestion, William! 😄 I actually just finished a working concept with a major breakthrough idea just this morning! I started 2 days with implementing some Jacob's bogies to replace the standard dual bogie system ...and one thing led to another and new ideas popped up and now I'm beyond stoked that I actually got a solution! It's not simple at all, took me 2 days to solve and it does some trickery, but it works! There are no gaps between the train cars at all, and even when going around a tight bend! The minifigures only need to step across a 1 stud gap (when the train is straight though) .. It's somewhat similar to what you suggested...the Jacob's bogie is just like the 'gangway' you mentioned. It's funny the 8-wide looks so right!..and then when I hold an older 6 wide train car next to the 8-wide, it just looks so itty bitty 😂 I'm really glad you like the train nose and the futuristic concepts! I'll keep making them!

@@TealBricksinParadisa Sorry to have just read this but I’m so thrilled to hear about your solution! 😃 Looking forward to watching the video for that. Looks like it’s a becoming a defining characteristic of your channel to tackle these more technical/engineering-oriented things in LEGO 😂 Your escalator design was tricky but very effective for its relatively compact footprint. And your elevator using wheels and the rail plates for the sliding door was very interesting, because those were ideas that have crossed my mind too but have never been able to test out in real life. Keep those impressive mechanical breakthroughs coming!! 🙌

Good murning, I'm so happy to see more of that sweet sweet stop motion action! awesome! We now need to know who the pursuer is. And hopefully we'll see more of them in the future 🙂 I must say, I wasn't a fan of the sloped nose of the official set. I like your version much much better. It's impressive how many seats (and tables!) (and bike!!) (and trolley!!!) (where's the trolley witch with her chocolate frogs????) you can fit in the passenger coach. To me, this is why TLG needs to start doing 8 stud wide trains, buses and whatnot: we need two rows of seats, and an alley way in the middle. And they need to contain more than 4 seats, otherwise the minifigs might as well just use cars! Hang on, LEGO cars can only fit 1 to 2 minifigs, oh yeah that's right 😬. The sun roof is lovely. It matches well with the future style of Paradisa City too. Alas, we have to accept those gaping holes in between coaches. One day we might get an accordion part to make it safe? One can only hope.

Good murning SSB! Haha! Anytime there is an evil doer attacking someone on the top of the train, you just know it's gotta be some worldwide secret criminal illuminati that's 99% complete with their master plan of unleashing total world destruction for their profit/revenge/hostile-takeover 😂 Maybe the question is, who is the heroine in the pickup truck that catches my sigfig just in the nick of time? 😂 Trolly witches are a thing of the past. Perhaps the robotic condiment station can still sell chocolate frogs though 😂 I can't agree with buses being at 8-wide (too big), however I do know that if Lego were to develop a particular wall panel element ( I've already got the basic digital design of it--it's also universal and could be used in a plethora of city builds) it would then be possible to fit 2 rows of seats with an isle in the middle of one of my 7-wide buses! ...If only... I once took an overnight train ride from Paris to Rome and I'm thinking how cool it would have been if it had been a train with a glass roof 😄 haha
