The Summoning definitely takes a few listens to really appreciate everything. The "wall of sound" really takes a while to appreciate. I also heard Vessel wanted the instruments and vocals to be at the same volume, nothing in particular stands out, and that is be design. Now do the title track.

I love this channel. These are two cool guys. I love how he doesn’t just trash a song if he’s not completely feeling it. He still compliments parts but critiques others all while being extremely respectful and appreciative of the musicianship, even if it isn’t his cup of tea necessarily. Keep up the good work guys!

Hey kinda random, but War of Being by TesseracT would be a fun one to do. Big, sprawling, progressive composition, mix of harshes and cleans, lots to talk about. Kinda exists somewhere between Sleep Token and Opeth, if that makes any sense. Whole album is phenomenal

I needed to track down your comment. A few days ago I followed your suggestion and fell in love with TesseracT. Legion is my new favorite song. I agree the entire Album is amazing. Anyways, thanks to the suggestion and the community that is forming here I found another great band!

I agree with Judson. When I first heard this song it's alot to digest it took multiple listens for me to get into this song where as Chokehold or Vore I instantly loved after first listen.

Yeah a lot of this album is multiple listen songs, Apparition I thought was a bit easy mode at first, then a few listens and with better headphones I was like, holy shit this songs good. Its weird like some of their songs need a second hit and that melody burns its way into your brain. Ascensionism was the same. Thats one he would like, a ton of piano.

It took me 8 listens to get used to this one. I find some Sleep Token songs are like learning to drive, or type, where I have to get used to some parts first before I can appreciate the rest.

I agree with the "wash of sound" thing, I'm the same way. Slipknot is that way for me on some songs. I like them just sometimes less is more. Good thing about this song we get more bang for our buck so to say, it's like several songs in one reaction.

You guys should really react to Aviations. Prog band where the majority of them went to Berkeley for music. They have an ABSOLUTE UNIT of a pianist. Best part is he didn't go to Berkeley but the rest of the band tells you he's the most talented member. I recommend Coma. Check it out, even if it's not a video.

The ending sounds way better live. I think they quantized the drums a little too much (typical modern metal production) as he plays it with way more swing live.

I respect that this guy doesn't just ignore the things he doesn't like and blindly say this is good or say things he doesn't believe. It's refreshing. I listen to a lot of metalcore, and I prefer when people are critical of it in an earnest and constructive way than just, maybe, act like they like a song even if they don't and that's not their genre because they think it will pander to fans of the band who come to watch the video. Especially with someone who might have a classically trained background. I think the second half should've been a separate song. The style blend is creative, but I think it doesn't gel that well and the second song could be a more commercial hit on its own, though I doubt they care about that at all.

Not sure what it is, but Sleep Token don’t do it for me. If I want to listen to funk/RnB done well, I wouldn’t listen to Sleep Token. If I wanted to listen to metal done well, I don’t think I’d head to Sleep Token for that either.

The music on this particular reaction is off, because you definitely wouldn't say that if you heard the album audio...it's MASTERFULLY mixed and mastered.
