"Meet me at the waterfront after the social." Fun Fact: The film became an unexpected hit, and something of a cult favorite for horror movie buffs. It made 30 times more than what was spent on it. Practical Effect Fact: For Artie's (Owen Hughes) severe burn sequence, the actor was propped up on a fake floor and underneath, liquid gelatin was pumped through the blisters giving the impression that they were pulsating. Authentic Battle Damage Fact: While filming the scene in which the canoe flips over in the lake, John E. Dunn cut the top of his hand open against a sharp rock on the lake bottom and had to be rushed to the hospital. Mrs. Doubtfire Award Fact: Angela was indeed played by a woman, Felissa Rose. However the climactic scene was accomplished using a nude man wearing a mask cast from Felissa Rose's face. The thin man who stood in for Angela was a college student who needed to get drunk before he was able to do the scene. Though originally uncredited, it has since been revealed that the identity of Angela's body double was Archie Liberace. It is his first and only screen credit.

This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid (as messed up as that sounds). Felissa Rose (Angela) was a guest at a local horror con the weekend of my 30th birthday back in 2012 and I was super stoked to get a chance to meet her in person. At a horror con in 2012, I would expect a signed pic or a picture with her to cost about 25-30 bucks but I was totally prepared to pay that since I'm kind of a horror nerd. But once she found out it was my 30th birthday, she absolutely refused to let me pay for anything. She signed a couple of things, took a pic with me, the works. Not only that, but the rest of the time at the con when she would see me, she'd wave and call my name like we were old friends. Such a great person! Glad you got a chance to watch this crazy movie!

It's way simple. She just kills anyone that is mean to her. The kids that got the ax were the ones that threw sand at her. The rest were obvious. And I just found out young peter was played by The Situation's brother. I might be more shocked by that than Angela's wiener. I already knew the black cook is Darth Vader's daddy.

I have the Shout/ Scream Factory Collector's Edition of this movie an I listened to the audio commentaries with its writer and director an one with Felissa Rose. So here's the the deal Peter survived the boat accident. Then instead of his Aunt Martha doing anything to help him. She basically both physically and mentally abused Peter to the extreme levels of child abuse. By making him live as a girl by the name Angela wich was his own dead sisters name. So basically his Aunt Martha made Peter live as his dead sister completely against his will. Then out side of his Aunt Martha's control all the kids picking on an bullying Peter. I will say Peter because that is who it is an always was. Because Peter never agreed to any of the becomeing Angela thing. But after the bullying an the one boy liking an doing the stuff with "Angela". Basically Peter's mind completely snapped then at that point if you did anything to Peter that he didn't like. You where dead you made fun of him dead throw sand at him dead you get the idea if you crossed Peter in any way you where dead. Basically after 8 years give or take of being forced to live as his dead sister. Severely mentally FT Peter up to the point that anything else that Peter had to deal with. Was the final straw then mentally no more Peter or anyone. Just years of dealing with what Aunt Martha did to him. Getting revenge on any one that crossed him that's why at the end Peter doesn't speak he just makes sounds. Because all that's left is rage an anger there is no person any more. Just something looking for someone to take it out on an kill. Basically Aunt Martha made Peter into a ticking time bomb. By making him live as his dead sister an that time bomb went off at that camp. So the real monster or villain in this movie is Aunt Martha because Peter is an was a victim to. Peter did kill people but at that point there was no Peter or Angela. Because Angela died in the boat accident. Then Aunt Martha kill Peter mentally by making him live as his dead sister completely against his own free will. Wich lead to the deaths at the camp. So the only person to balm for all of it is Aunt Martha. Then when Meg was in the shower it's that way. Because if the camera went any lower you would see that she was wearing a bathing suit. Because the actress said she would do no nude scenes. So since you don't normally shower with a bathing suit on they could not show a normal shower scene. When it came to the kill scenes Felissa Rose the actress that played Angela. Was never there because her mother said she was fine with the script but she didn't want her daughter taking part in any murder scenes. So the actor that played Ricky would put on a wig an do those scenes. Now my favorite line in the movie is when Meg said if she was any quieter she would be dead. Because if you seen the movie before you think to late she's already dead. My favorite scene is when the one cook gets his with the boiling water. Because even tho it may not of killed him it permanently made him blind and permanently burnt him all over his body. Leaving him in nonstop pain for the rest of his life.

The aunt in this movie was the worst even though all the other characters were jerks in their own way. I do admire the cousin who stood by Angela too, give that kid a medal. I could not stop laughing at the comments about the fashion of the film. Of course with a slasher have to wear the skimpiest clothing possible. Gotta push that "abstinence" message. The acting in the sequels is no better. But at least in the first sequel we get member of the Estevez/Sheen dynasty - the sister of Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen, and Angela is played by the sister of Bruce Springsteen, Pamela Springsteen. SC2 and SC3 are actually really funny movies. They're not as poorly made as this. Return to Sleepaway Camp on the other hand... that's the worst. Also, fun fact, the black cook is the father of Darth Vader himself, or the voice at least, James Earl Jones.

But…that cops mustache lmao…not sure if anyone has stated this but that actor had his full mustache when he initially filmed his scenes but because of last minute reshoots being needed, he didn’t have time to grow it back & their best solution was to glue that god awful mustache on his face 😂😂😂 As the director, after seeing how damn terrible it looked, I would’ve championed to reshoot his earlier scenes without a mustache. I’m sure they just didn’t have enough money but I just cannot believe they weren’t able to pull together enough money to get a realistic mustache lmao. Or at least one that was the same damn color as his original mustache/hair 😂 it’s legit like almost black but originally was like a light brown 💀 It is however one of those things that adds that lil extra bit of “campy” charm to this movie tho

I freaking love this movie, it’s so bizarre and silly and dark and messed up. This is one of those classics I watched when I was younger and never thought I’d see the sequel because why bother, but LISTEN- Sleepaway Camp 2 is SO GOOD and so campy, and really leans into its own schlock. I can’t recommend it enough. That and Prom Night 2 are two movies I don’t think get enough love in the wider horror community, but they’re pure fun for the sake of fun

Pieces (1982), Sleepaway Camp (1983), and Aerobicide AKA Killer Workout (1987), make up a terrible terror trilogy, that only exists in my own mind. The reason I like to think of these gems as as a trilogy is that all 3 films share the same characteristics that end up making them great bad movies. They are all 80s slashers, they’re horribly acted, have bad dialogue, have surprising killers, are wonderfully sleazy, are incredibly entertaining, very engaging, and, all 3, above all, are just plain ridiculous. How I do, love them so. Peter/Angela for some reason, is confused by their own sexuality. If you were making a movie in 1983, that’s all the motivation your main character - a kid - would need in order to become one of the worst mass murderers in summer camp history. This is the first time I’ve watched your reactions, and you’re very good at it. I will subscribe. Thanks for making videos eh.

Thank you so much for the subscribe, first off, but mostly for the comment! This comment was perfect. As a fan of alliteration, I love the "Terrible Terror Trilogy" alone, but then you sealed the deal with the description of "wonderfully sleazy" lol. Excellent description. Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to more comments from you.

This was one of the campiest movies ever made! It’s funny how this just ends with no resolution. This is why people died an this comes from audio commentaries from the Shout/ Scream Factory Collector's Edition of The movie. There was no Angela she died in the boat accident at the beginning of the movie. It was Peter and it was only always Peter in the movie Felissa Rose who played Angela under this. She understood that she was playing a boy who was both physically and mentally abused to the braking point. By their Aunt Martha so they died because of what Aunt Martha did to Peter. Basically when Aunt Martha made Peter live as his dead sister Angela completely. Against his free will it FT Peter up big time an made him into a ticking time bomb. Then when he was at the camp the kids an the people that did things to Peter that he didn't like. Was the last straw Peter finally completely lost his mind an snapped. Then at that point any one that crossed him in any way was going to die. It went beyond vengeful the only thing that was left in Peter's body was rage an anger. At that point Angela was dead because she died in the boat accident. Then Aunt Martha mentally killed Peter by making him live as his dead sister completely against his will. So it was not a choice you chose to take revenge. That was not the case here it was more primitive it was just pure rage an anger punishing people. It was a automatic response that's why at the end of the movie Peter didn't say anything he just makes sounds. Because there was no more Peter left just rage an anger.
