Tarja's voice and singing style is instantly recogniseable ... and the other singers for NW are "just regular rock singers" and do not stand out as Tarja did. The new singers are good ... but nothing special.

I wouldn't count Floor Jansen as just a 'regular rock singer', not that there is anything wrong with that. She does the rock/metal style great, but also has a classical voice toolkit (amongst others) that she uses for certain songs. Her versatility, emoting and storytelling capability is amazing. Floor is certainly very special, as is the lovely Tarja. Different singers. Equally wonderful. I wouldn't underestimate Annette Olzon either. She has her moments. I wondered why the reactor kept emphasising these were 'Finnish hillbillies' rather than just 'hillbillies' since Tarja is also Finnish. Did he think her American? She is one singer who retains her accent when singing (a good thing, in my opinion). The foot tapping longitude/ latitude gag at the end made me laugh though. Very funny. I also watched the whole episode and they're all a delight. From Nightwish I thought Tarja was rather solemn and serious but she actually has quite a quirky sense of humour. A lovely lady.

Oh my god this was so funny I’m crying 😂 your comments are hilarious! If only you knew though that Tarja herself is a country girl from the small Finnish town of Kittee! I honestly was more worried for the Seagulls-Tarja with a microphone in a small space like that has got to be a little overwhelmingly loud 😂

From a smaller suburb on the outskirts of Kitee. the area has its own dialect of Finish. Never mind being fluent in English not even an official language. That talent is awesome.

Thanks for your concern about dearest divine precious TARJA Found evidence that she made it out of there , however a new attempt could be in progress!!! TARJA recently got out a very short cryptic message from her phone about being on the island of Antigua with a fellow named York and something about a Outlander Project. Please check into this , getting rather stressed again 💘

You can watch the whole episode on the video: seagull's Nest feat. Tarja Turunen - Tarja sings 2 songs with them, but the video cpntains more: competition, musical quiz. Just it's all that musician humour you know from musicians on gigs goofing around on back stage etc.

a) I love how they had one camera positioned to catch her with the same 1000 mile stare as the poster behind her. b) Those pre/post-breakdown high notes were at the same frequency as most cell phone carrier waves... I think she was trying to dial out.... c) pretty sure I saw her ASL "S O S" once or twice.... aren't not right about the Deliverance implications. Tarja still has a great voice, and the best zygoma/processes in the industry (go look it up, ya perv, lol, this is a legit observation/medical fact). BTW, I can vouch for NEVER getting trapped in an enclosed with an operatically trained singer.... holy shit if they happen to uncork a fully supported c5 belt = ears are gonna to implode. Dated one once. It gets worse. But that would indelicate to discuss.

Who would have thought that this song would fit so well with this style of music. @@christophersims3319 NW SUCKED early on recording their live concerts. For example Tarja had 5 world tours, but vast majority of reactions is to her very LAST concert 2005, which they did record on live DVD, and in the very early Nightwish, year 2000, they did their first live DVD. WIth Anetter, they did two albums, and she didn't finish her second world tour, so less than two tours. And no live video DVDs were made during those. There is couple of live videos, Planet Hell live rehearsal and Scaretale (also bad quality). So most Anette's era is some TV-camera filmed festival stuff. Doesn't get close to the soundboard recorded and studio post processed quality.

Okay, that's a mindblowing version, amazing! On the topic of Nightwish, I first learned about the band when Tarja was still part of it and I didn't think it would work with anybody else, at that time I was also listening to other stuff so wasn't checking it out anyways. Only came back to it semi-recently when I saw live performances on yt. I see it like this: Tarja is the most amazing pure operatic singer of the three, Anette sings some of the sweetest notes, like the ending of Poet and the Pendulum (honestly not sure if I heard anything else from her but that stood out to me), and Floor has the biggest range and brings the emotions. And to me the emotions are what original Nightwish was lacking. They were always amazing, but while Tarja hit every note, emotionally the songs felt kinda cold to me.

I disagree about the emotions. I have always felt the emotions from TARJA , more than the rest of them except for Annette. The first two are the most emotional for me. I also don’t think floor has the biggest range.

Really? Tarja gave me goosebumps during live shows with Nightwish. Like honestly... one look of these eyes and then her haunting voice. She could drag me down to some very dark places back then as a teen. I love Floor too. With her it's lighter, floating, angelic. More fun, more party. Even when she throws in growls they still are somewhat sweet and feminine. I feel like that doesn't fit every song, though.

Tarja didn’t have to overdo it. Toumas’ music had a more dark and gothic vibe back then. Tarja definitely used her voice to give off that feeling. I just think people are more accustomed to the generic way of using emotions through music.

This was so much fun to watch. Such a performance. As haunting as the original is, I would say this is very on par with the original one. And as said in the chat, I would love to see you check out all the songs from Seagull's Nest. There are some amazing songs in there with Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius, Samy Elbanna from Lost Society, Noora Louhimo from Battle Beast, Lassi Vääränen from Arion and Sami Yaffa from Hanoi Rocks. Also Tarja has a second song with the guys that is a Tango

In finnland the wormen are strong. First country ww where the ladies got voting rights. They had an active participation in ww2 - and finnland is the worlds most "equal rights" country when it comes to women. (you can google all the statistics) point of my speech is - there is not one lady with a couple of creeps in a shack - finnland is a forest nation, all houses outside the capital are "shacks" anyways. - and i am not sure if i would be more worried about the boys than tarja who could just scream them to death. So lets not ride american sentiments about a finnish situation. Here a group of people of different genders can have fun together w/o anyone thinking even the though (before you mentioned it) of someone in the group be vulnerable to other people in the group

For myself, this was just OK. The Seagulls also have a new video in the same format as this with Noora Louhimo doing Peace of my heart from Janis Joplin. I have watched it at least 50 times. I think you may also like it.

Enjoy Tarja's voice but for some reason after a while it starts to grate on me, is this the only way she can sing? Anyway personal taste and all that, great voice but for sure just too much of the same thing for my liking.

I didn’t like this at all. I have to admit i don’t like tarja’s voice at all, for me it kills every song she is performing, but this combination was even worse. And i try to like her singing, as she is obviously very talented, but i have never heard her sing in such a way it touched me. A cold emotionless singer, for me, so far

Then why did you even watch the video? Was it just to leave this comment? Floors voice doesn’t touch me at all, so I stay away from reactions to her videos. I don’t feel it’s necessary to go and voice my negative opinions about her on her videos. It seems quite sand and desperate.

Sorry, for me it is no. Nothing to do with the voice but the pronunciation. She should stick to Finnish, when Marko sings in Finnish it sounds Finnish, when he sings in English he sounds English-American. Like I said, it my problem, not hers, I just don't buy her albums.

Yeah, that’s definitely a you problem. Does hearing peoples accents from other countries bother you in day to day life? If not, this just seems like a poor excuse to dis Tarja. I don’t go to Floor videos and leave negative comments about her. I simply stay away from reactions to her videos.
