The first version of this sketch was with Adam Driver, who has been one of the absolute best SNL hosts. However, Jason Bateman is just perfect for the role as the interrogating father, so this second version is actually better than the first.

Words cannot express how much I love this man. He is a master.

Kate is just getting more and more amazing. She is a fucking genius actor!! Seriously, her breadth of characters is incredible but the intensity of her characters just kicks ass. This is really funny. It reminds of how completely bizarre, yet hilarious, that weird "Hail" skit was a few weeks back. Kate is a national treasure.

They really missed an opportunity to have Kate leave a stain on the couch she keeps sitting on in this sketch too and then somehow explain that away. Would've been a nice twist to spice things up.

My girlfriend recently had an incident on the couch, like this. She was pretty emotional, crying and the like, so I was consoling her for about an hour. When she got up to go to the bathroom, I saw the back of her pants, and the couch cushion. While she was away, I tried to scrub it out a bit, to save her from the embarrassment, but it wasn’t coming out! She came out of the bathroom, around the corner, and into her room, with a jacket tied around her waist. She came back out with different pair of sweatpants. I just sat casually to the side with phone in hand, like I hadn’t even noticed, as she discovered the stain. She proceeded to throw the cushion cover in the wash. Later that night, her mom asked why the couch cushion was missing (we’re at her parents place). So she pulled her off to the side and explained, which they proceeded to laugh hysterically with each other about. Her dad walked in, asking what was so funny, and also questioning why the couch cushion was missing, making them laugh even harder! But there I was, knowing exactly what had happened, but letting her and her mom think no one knew. 😅 I’m thinking of forwarding this skit to her, now, as this was a few weeks ago, now. What do you think?? It would be funny, but maybe its better to let her think she saved face.
