SLEEPWALK - 2012 Arrangement
An old time beautiful classic first inspired by the Shadows LP version. This is a mixture of new and old versions so I hope you like it. Thanks to my Friend Phil McGarrick for the production of this video.

Listening to this fabulous version of Sleepwalk......with misty eyes....having only just discovered that John Skelton sadly passed away in 2018....!!!!....His version of..Girl from Ipanema...is best I've ever heard...yet another sad loss...!!!!..RIP.

"Sleepwalk" has been my favorite since I first heard Santo & Johnny play it on American Bandstand.. I have heard, and enjoyed, several different arrangements and variations on the original. They have been good, but none that I would call better; until now, anyway. You, sir, have put so much heart into the presentation of this melody that this has moved me more than the original. Thank you.

Il y a tant d'instrumentaux de guitare que j'adore, mais celui-là à marqué ma jeunesse et ma vie... Je suis ému à chaque fois que je l'écoute et je pense à Patrick, mon frère décédé, qui comme moi adorait The SHADOWS depuis 1961. Le musicien qui interprète Sleepwalk est tout simplement super, plus que super !!!

Thanks Nathan. This was one of Jet Harris's favourites when I was in his band. I loved the old and new versions so I did this originally to his memory when he died. Hence the passion. Much appreciated. John

Thanks John. Having played in Jet Harris's Band in the late seventies/early eighties certainly helped my timing and feeling for music. He was a great inspiration to work with. Just continuing the promotion of the Shadows type music is always a pleasure. Glad you liked it. Regards, John

i still remermber Santo and Johnny mid '60s , dancing cheek to cheek in the HS gymn at a themed dance listening to his steel guitar. this is a timeless classic..where have all those years gone?

Very, very nice version. Clear and clean, with nice effects, not overdone. But Hank Marvin's inspira- tion was the original by Santo and Johnny. I think you should have introduced it that way. Hank did.

larry geetar..he does say in the title,that it is a mixture of old and new, so with artistic licence,do you not think he made a lovely job of the intro,even if it was improvised..? Mind ,in saying that,I am the most purist fanatic in the world,when it comes to playing like Hank,and I have played Hank's version as perfect as I could,since the day it was released,but I always recognise talent and brilliant playing ,like this guy,who has the silkiest feel with the plec..walk in the room and you would think that it was Hank playing!!..[ I said the same about Phil McGarrick...great player also!]..I respect your opinion,Larry,and also your good and sensible thoughts on the vid. This is the version done by Hank & Ben Marvin at the Fender tribute to the Stratocaster show (Strat Pack dvd). Mellow jazz sets a nice feel good mood! Great stuff!!! Thanks for posting this.
