To be fair to them earning the badge of “oldest men in the proffesion where men die young” is pretty dope no matter the circumstances. This was like an achievement award with no show. And at their age that probably feels pretty great.

They would be 82 and 88 at the time this episode released (which was 2018). Red Death is supposedly about 73

These guys were rank 10... Even in their old age they were still on the council separately. They were founding members sure but they were still powerful enough to command respect. Even when they were attached to each other they showed competence and ability enough to stay on the council.

While it is certainly possible that Desmond is dead, I wonder if he might have been otherwise disqualified. Other's have already pointed out his health and mental state or the fact that there is a new Captain Sunshine but I think it is also possible that his time as Zeus disqualified him. He (briefly) turned himself into a villain and not just a villain but one working without guild authorization.

With the exception of Wide Whale, none of the arches were mostly played for laughs with all of the arches either having a game night or just catching up with an old frenemy. Even if Desmond is still alive and (semi) eligible, I think that this is still the funniest thing they could have done.

It does make you wonder if they found Downton Abbey together of if one won the other over to it. From Red Mantle's enthusiasm, I'd wager it was him~ I used to house-care for an old man kind of like him, big 'ol nice house too, and when I'd sit up and listen to his stories about life as a key-maker who was in a couple wars in his time, I'd picture Dragoon's big-ass melon on his shoulder from time to time. He was a charming fella.

Wouldn't that technically become a conflict of interest, giving that mantle and the triad are in the same magic sect circa the Halloween episode? At the least, master would probably have to step in and mediate some ground rules so they don't get to the legal murder level Or maybe he wouldn't care, but it seems like something he'd take a close eye on

JohnnyGarland Desmond (the orginal Captain Sunshine) hasn't been seen since the reaveal he was the orignal captain sunshine (Season 4) and he was very hurt chances are he may have not lived long after that so it is possible.

@@ColonelBragg I don't know Novia seemed to be on a whole different life then from her previous life when she arch Dr. Mrs. the Monarch in her solo days plus Johnny is clearly out of the boy adventuer life so retirement isn't really a factor for these final archs.

I love the New York and New Jersey references during last few seasons/episodes. I actually live 20 minutes or so from the mansion The Monarch got from his father. It’s actually a famous building. I also live another 20-30 min from NYC including the area most of the show takes place in.

These two slowly became my favorite character over the course of seasons 6 and 7. They really come around to each other and they seem to enjoy each others company. Plus this was the best way they could have done their final arch. It makes perfect sense that ALL of their previous arches are fuckin dead.

Well, Zero definitely punched him hard enough, but he could be disqualified based on his mental state, physical state (last we saw he was very bloody), the fact he temporarily was a non-Guild villain...or the fact he's not a hero any more. They did say used to, it's possible he retired.
