Highland Mountain bike Park Closing Day! This past weekend was a snowy mess at Highlands MTB park. Most trails like were snow covered, which made a muddy fun mess. #mountainbiking #MTB #GoProHero7

I know Aaron Chase was there on an ebike, so he may have tried to give it ago, otherwise, I have no idea who went for it.

OMG Phil! I was there, we shared a chair (The older cat who was stoked too ride up with you). I cannot believe the amount of speed you carried especially on the muddy shoveled lines. I mean WTF?! No one was anywhere near that speed. Jack Rabbit was nutty and you just blew through it... Love watching you ride man!

I find it absolutely amazing that with Phil's skill set he is still shredding the trails while he's telling us how loose and slick the trails are ! Hats off Phil !

*Responding to a few really common questions:* ▶︎ Is your frame still cracked? My frame was still cracked when I made this video, but the replacement triangle just came in the day I posted this video. ▶︎ How did you set up your camera? I'm using the Hero 7 black in this video with built in stabilization. If you want to know more about my set up watch this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iuB0Y8WBsZfZlWg.html ▶︎ I can't believe Highland is still open! It's closed now for the season, but they do open a few times during the winter for a winter fat bike weekend. ▶︎ You should run a mud guard I was running a smaller "marsh guard" style mud flat. You can see it at the 1:00 mark when my bars are turned sideways. ▶︎ What where you wearing? Nothing special really. Multiple layers of riding clothes. I had 2 sets of socks on + toe warmers. I was using the thicker than normal Dawn Patrol Tasco gloves. They help, but you hands still get cold eventually. I borrowed one of Hailey's neck warmers which helped out a ton. ▶︎ How do you clean off muddy riding gear? I rinse off all my gear with a hose, and once the water runs clear I wash it the same way I normally do.

You know what makes me mad? Seeing you blitz that trail in full-on mud mode, and go faster than almost everyone on the planet could go if it was perfectly dry and groomed. Screw you Phil Kmetz....screw you. :-) "Due to the mud from the melting snow, I wasn't able to hit all the features I would normally hit on this trail." Proceeds to send everything, and hit wooden bridges that I wouldn't have laid a tire on in those conditions. Yet somehow...you come across as humble and unassuming. Keep 'em coming!!! LOVE THE NEW HERO 7 footage man! It's so much more life-like for a myriad of reasons. I get it that for some, they like the "artificially fast" feeling you get from a lower mounted camera/gimbal setup, but I much prefer this angle. The view is clear...no bars, stem, or bike computer in the way (Nate Hills...speaking to you sir), and the jumps are much better, because we "spot" the landing along with you. Cornering...WAY better with "vision view" of seeing the exit. I've been using the 7 chin mounted as well, and it is WAY more pleasant to wear than messing with gimbals!!! Thanks for your tips with it, and for veryfing that it will work even with the shreddiest of shredders!!
@mattgies5 жыл бұрын
Seriously! He rips it this hard with skinny tires; let's see what he can do with a fatbike in the powder!
@willbros14995 жыл бұрын
@@mattgies He's an elite rider, for sure. For me, the new Hero 7 REALLY makes it even more enjoyable to watch him ride, because you pick up on what he's looking at, rather than a gimbal/camera setup that is always correcting to level. He and and Daily MTB Rider are the first to really embrace the new camera, and I am digging it. I sound like an add for GoPro, but for me it's much more immersive and entertaining to watch.

I love how Phil rides faster and with more confidence in the snow than I do on perfectly tacky dirt! It made me cringe a bunch of times where I was positive he was going to slide out because he was going so fast. Amazing stuff to watch Phil!

Man your level of confidence ripping through those turns in straight up snow was incredible. Not to mention the wooden features, which since breaking my hand at Mountain Creek on a wet boardwalk last year, scares the crap out of me. Bless you Phil, bless you!
@willbros14995 жыл бұрын
That's the most common injury on wooden bridges, and I don't understand why. I have broken my hand on one, and so have a few of my friends, but I'm not sure why that happens more than breaking a hand on other terrain? It must have something to do with how fast you hit the deck...like it's ice...not sure. I'll admit...I would NEVER ride wooden features that fast when they are wet, because I've had two horrible experiences with it. Count me out on those!
