honestly, I don't like this style of music... I only like two songs by Slim Whitman... but I have to admit, his voice is (was?) incredibly beautiful. So clear and.. How can I say it... "developed".. it goes down, and up, and down, and up...wow. Goosebumps

You're right that The Browns popularized this song in the US with their hit version in 1959 but, just to set the records straight theirs wasn't the original recording. You can look it all up on the web by googling The Three Bells or Les Compagnons de la Chanson. Thankfully, many of these versions are available, on KZfaq. I'm old enough to have been introduced to this song way back when Les Compagnons de la Chanson sang it (several times) live and A Capella on The Sullivan Show.
