🇫🇷 Slimane (France) describes Eurovision 2024 staging for "Mon Amour"

Back in April, France's Eurovision 2024 singer Slimane met up with us at the London Eurovision Party. Now that he's had both of his rehearals, we're happy to share it. He described his stage plans and his desire to create a "romantic rendez-vous" with 180 million people. He also explains how performing in piano bars inspired him to perform that a cappella moment here in Malmö.

I still listen Slimane, dear William! There are many like me. This speaks a lot. What can I say. Jury was really unfair to him and in my opinion he should be the winner. The performance in final and not the rehearsal should be taken into consideration. Over the time I followed you and I ended appreciating your postings. Thanks!

Yes, he does not speak english. I was afraid about that. Sorry, but it's not snobbery, it's because the French are very bad at learning languages. we are trying to change methods for new generations. but French is the second official language of Eurovision. everyone forgot it. fed up with English. I’m excited to hear more and more European languages other than English!!!!

Great singer but I prefer the darker staging, it suits the song better because it’s about a lost love. It looks about the same as Portugal who really surprised me yesterday, I would skip the singing at the microphone, it’s too screamy, it doesn’t sound pleasant.

Perhaps he doesn't know enough English to give proper answers? As a non-native student of English, I can only say that English is a very difficult language. And French is also an official language of Eurovision, so why shouldn’t he speak it?

Maybe he should make an effort to speak English next time. Why do French think they are more special than others and can only speak French. English is the world language of communication and he should learn some

Do you realise how ridiculous you sound ?!? The only reason Slimane is speaking in French, is because he is not fully fluent in English. This is an interview, he wants to be sure he is understood well. Do not blame people for their lack of confidence in foreign languages. Slimane sang his song in English and Spanish on stage. He would not do that if he was a snob. Also people who comment on French not being able to learn English, that is ridiculous considering the last France participants were all fluent in English. Probably because they had more opprtunities to learn and speak the language. We are not in the sixties anymore. Do not shame people who did not have the same opportunities. So condescending…

This doen't have anything with French, but when you are in France and doen't speak French, they are pissed off and doesn't want to speak English with you. And you come to eurovision and you don't speak English. They are wierd... 🫤

If you aren't fluent in English it can be very hard to do an interview like this because you don't have the words to express yourself. We shouldn't have an expectation on artist's to speak in English if it's not their native tongue.

It's not about respect. It's about abilities. In France lots of people are not good in english. Our learning system is not really efficient for languages. Please be nice, not everybody speak english. And I have to say that He tries, in some others interviews he speaks in english, even if it's hard for him.

bro there are way more waiters and waitress that speak english in Paris than it was 10 years ago I would say it's a big improvement. If you go to some random villages of France and expect everyone to speak english you are dreaming
