History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 53: Slimmy B is 1/4 of the multi-platinum group SOB X RBE. Growing up in Vallejo's Crestside neighborhood, the home of Mac Dre, Slimmy was heavily influenced by Bay Area rap. Shortly after making their first songs in high school, SOB X RBE blew up on a national level. Touring the country and collaborating with artists like Kendrick Lamar and Lil Yachty, the group quickly shot to superstardom. This was short-lived as internal disputes led SOB X RBE to split up. This has not stopped Slimmy's hustle and he has dropped several solo projects over the years. Focusing on music over street politics, Slimmy remains level-headed and determined to continue his success in the rap game.

Kendrick Lamar used the SOB blueprint for the second verse of “Not Like Us” not to mention Mustard adopting yet another NorCal style with that beat. But K Dot has worked with them and frequently shouts out the bay.

Lul G brought that energy tho. He may not have been on a lot of songs but having that one guy who brings that energy to the group is important. The songs Lul G was on tho certified slaps. I just think his legal issues prevented him from doing more. There should have been an adult in the room while they was breaking up, to help these 4 guys understand you guys are brothers and these outside people don’t matter. They shouldn’t even be around the group unless they’re making music. Everybody can’t go with you when you’re growing. Still hurt SOB X RBE ISNT AROUND ANYMORE

I always went back & forth wit myself about who’s the better lyrics between Slimmy or Daboii. Most people go wit Boii but tbh Slimmy punchlines & the way he talk his shit so effortlessly beautiful pure fire. After listening to his first song I can see he always had that hard hitting punch to his bars. I still fw each member individually after they broke up. T.O’s music got me through hard times, I feel him fasho. Daboii & Slimmy just make music they gets me going & it makes me really feel their bars.
