I just watched your video about some stops around the Phoenix & Tucson areas and found them rather interesting and educational. As a woodworker, I find creativeness everywhere. I have never seen the trick of turning a thorn into a musical needle.... Thanks for showing me that. You can learn something new every day. Hope to see you in the wild as a full-time. Traveler myself with my wife and three dogs , We have been enjoying This lifestyle Four years now.

I binge watched a few episodes when I first discovered your channel. Had to reign myself in and set limits or I would have run out of our visits. That’s what these feel like. We are sitting at the kitchen table and you are sharing pictures and stories of your travels, trials, tribulations and triumphs! Good Job Sir. Very Good Job.

You got me interested in boondocking in AZ back in 2018, then retired, bought a used TT and headed south to AZ from Winnipeg Mb in Dec 2019 as a solo snowbird. Had the time of my life till the big C hit in March 2020 and have not been back, but planning to again go back this Dec🤞. First place i stayed was one of your spots Snyder Hill. One of my favourite spots was near Yuma but ill keep that one a secret 😉. Thanks Slim.

Really enjoy the humor you incorporate into your video presentations. Thumbs up for the first and last campsites in this video. No thanks to the others. Your Indian taco made with fry bread looked yummy, but don't overlook the opportunity to treat yourself to fry bread enjoyed in the traditional manner, either drizzled with honey or dusted with cinnamon and sugar. Try it both ways, and see whether you can decide on a favorite.

You found some nice spots. The Oak Flat area is at risk of being lost in a land swap to the mines in the area. I am not sure of the current status. You were close on the jets. They are from Luke AFB on the northwest side of Phoenix and they are headed to the Barry Goldwater Gunnery Range, a large restricted land area in the southwest area of the state. It is an area you would not want to explore because there are probably some unexploded weapons laying around! Luke has been a primary training base for the F16 and is transitioning to the F35. Will you be spending anytime in sunny and warm southern Arizona or Mexico this winter? You do a great job of showing the area. That fry bread sure looked good. I think the bird attacking your jeep is a female phainopepla. It may have seen its reflection in the window and thought it was another bird invading its territory. That is common in the spring nesting season. Cactus wrens do that a lot. Thanks for the video.

@bruceh3786

Gary .... It would helpful if you could specify what you consider close and to what area of the Phoenix valley and also what kind of camping you are planning to do, tent, van, travel trailer, class A, etc. There are six Maricopa County campgrounds (Cave Creek, McDowell, Usury, White Tank, Estrella, Lake Pleasant) and Dutchman State Park but they charge in the low $30s for hookups and low $20s for ones that offer no hook ups. They have nice sites. There is Forest land north around Seven Springs and north of Apache Junction good for tents but RV spots may be harder to find. There are some Tonto Forest camp grounds so check their web site. They may charge. I do not know of "close" free. There are some BLM spots but most are not in areas that may not be what you have in mind for a family "camping" experience and are not real close.
