With the onset of the new #gladiator (#gladiatorII) out we all brace to see if it will hold a candle to the first one. In the interim things are looking bad for our resident roman as I bust out the sling vs the ballistic dummy. It is time to smash some heads and get some amazing results.

On thing about historic throwing axes (iam not the guy who asked) : They where mainly used bye the franks as far as we know and it was more used as a modern "fragmentation" amo. Why ? Cause apparently historical throwing axes " Francicas" where able to bounce everywhere inclunding the ground (due to their geometry). This was apparently deadly on tight enemy formation. Some franks where apparently aiming the floor just in front of their enemy with a raised shield. This way the axe could bounce under the shield and strike lower body parts of even under the chin.. Could be fun to check if its true

Great video as usual Dash 👌 my brother has been messing around with a sling he's made recently, I go over to his house to shoot my bow (only 60lbs at 28"), and I have to say I watch all of your videos, but seeing a sling be used with my own eyes first hand was pretty impressive. I'll always be an archer at heart but seeing the teeth go flying the way they did, and the fracture on the side of the skull, that was incredible 😲

I started slinging last week lol, I got a random video in my feed of a guy hitting a target at like 200 yards with one and kinda liked the idea of trying it, I realized I had some tanned deer hide and a bunch of Kevlar twine so I decided to make one (a 36 inch) lol. I've spent a couple hours practicing with it and have gotten some really great throws, I started out using tennis balls to get a feel for it, then I filled them with water, and now that I'm more comfortable with the basics I've moved up to river rocks. This shit is FUN! I'm definitely hooked now lol😂

The intro had me laughing so hard 😂. I wasn't surprised on the impact of the spear axe or sword. But the sling 😮, that was insane, i would love to learn to use one, but haven't got the room to make mistakes..honestly of i lived near you i would be round everyday practicing sling and archery. Archery i can do safely in my back garden, but sling certainly not. You are very fortunate to have a big enough space to practice all this safely. Now i would like to see what it would take to completely smash a chariot, obviously going to be hard to build one, but doable..😉 would love to see that..

That was a fun video! 😁 However, I have to make a few remarks: 0:30 When addressing your friend Varus you would use the vocative case instead of the nominative case and say "Vare". 2:40 Teutoburg isn't pronounced "Tü-to-börg" but "Toy-to-boorg". I might be mistaken but the plates of the lorica segmentata and the helmet you are using look very thin to me. They should be about 1.5 mm thick (maybe even 2 mm for the helmet). 🙂

Have you seen the pencil and pen throws they’re not as deadly as these shots but I’d say if your extremely good at them you might make someone be like yea ima stop messin with you maybe I’ll get checked out at the hospital but you would have to be like extremely extremely good at it rn after two or three days of practicing I can only every once in a while get up up to the colored wood on cardboard but Theres people who can do that almost through a soda can and maybe more definitely not in metal though maybe scratch it a little bit but that’s probably it

Why not cast your own lead shot? Its such a low melting point that all you need is a very simple mold, dedicated cooking pot, heat source outside, and the lead. Just dont spill hot lead or lose sling stones (environmental toxins), and beyond that you could have a bunch of them. Or make hardened clay ones, also historically accurate!
@dashrendar5320

@DieLuftwaffel
@DieLuftwaffel 22 күн бұрын
It might be a bit of a pain still, but a very very cheap metal detector would help you find the shot, unless you send it wild out into the deeps of actual Teutoberg forest. Glad to hear that clay shot tests are planned!
