I find it absolutely fine. Plenty of overlap, although I am always reaching for the 5m if I can get away with it. The 8m definitely feels bigger and is a light wind kite. The 5m and 4m are joy machines.

@@user-ju2we8me6n I really don’t know the answer to that as there are so many factors that affect it, plus I don’t have a wind speed device. At a guess I would say 15kts but maybe a bit less with cold air or helpful tide? If people are on twin tips on 12m kites, I am reaching for the 5m. 👍🏼

@@davidflusin5705 Hi David. I am afraid that I still don't really know! We have been blessed with seemingly endless 5m weather until around a week ago when the wind switched off here. I did have one light wind session on the 8m where it just wasn't enough to get going but I felt as though I would have been OK on my 9m Soul. I therefore took the Soul with me yesterday as there was a bit of wind, but I really struggled to get going on the Soul too and didn't bother putting up the 8m as a head to head. I still want to do that but need the right conditions. I expect the 8m will not be as good as the Soul in the really light stuff, but it will be more fun to fly in anything over 12kts or so. But I need to try them both in 10kts.

@@erbartlett I am afraid that I just haven't had the opportunity to really test it out in light winds. I don't think the 8m is going to be that great in super light winds to be honest, so an 11m would definitely help push the lower end but I suspect that you may only really be gaining a few knots. I did have one session at the end of last year where it felt pretty light and I was impressed by how much fun the 8m was, but it was probably somewhere between 10 and 12kts, so not super light wind. Personally, I don't think anything would beat a foil kite in sub 10kts, but appreciate that they are not everyone's cup of tea. One thing that I would say is that the 8m felt much bigger and slower after having been spoilt on the 5m for so many sessions. It was a stark reminder of physics! Smaller kites are simply more fun, so I don't know whether the 11m may feel like a bit of a tank. Will report back as soon as I have actually managed to put the 8m up in the bottom end.

I have dropped down to around 85kg these days but was the wrong side of 95kg when I did this video! Still loving the ufo. I haven’t used the peaks this year, which is telling I think.

I have never flown the hybrid but have a lot of hours on the peak. The UFO is less fluttery than the peak and the power at the bar is more linear (if that makes sense? Power eases off as you sheet out rather than dumping quickly) but peak is still drift champion.

@@kitesurfingsince2000 ya power with my kite is dumped as soon as you sheet out which is what makes me like this kite. And yes it’s the drift king which is why I love it so much. I guess the only difference between leak and hybrid is relaunch based on what you are saying.

@@russkielol Peak or UFO? Tbh, I need to get more hours on the UFO as I only had a few sessions before the darkness of winter arrived here in the UK. My initial impressions of the UFO were very good, but there are undoubtedly elements of the Peak that I will miss. The set up / transport is amazing with Peaks and I am not looking forward to having to lug the pump around again. The fluttering on the Peak can be annoying, although it is generally a sign that you need to change down. The UFO does flutter a bit, not nothing like as much. I like the gradual depower on the UFO, compared to more of an on / off switch on the Peak and it feels really nice and 'connected' whilst being quick (I have the 5m and 8m). I need more hours on the UFOs but know that having a chance at relaunch will help me progress this year as I suspect that I have been holding back on occasions on the Peaks to avoid a swim. I haven't actually put them in the water for over 18mths but you are definitely more like to swim with them...... Both fantastic kites for foiling, but I wouldn't want to use either on anything else.
