My Cover/Arrangement of Sloop John B - as made popular by the Beach Boys. This one was a lot of fun to make. Enjoy!

Fantastic multitrack! Very well done. I can't believe this only has 1714 views after more than 3 years. You deserve more recognition.

Yes, it is so sad. I have been to so many sites where people have poured their heart and soul out to produce a fantastic cover, only to get no recognition. This is just another example.

I like how you slowly introduced the additional harmonies at the beginning of the song. Also, you are very bold to sing this A Capella style, without any accompanying instruments, which required your voice to be much more precise (times 5).

Do you have a pretty accurate source on the notes used in the block vocal harmonies of this song? I want to record my own version, and the blend that Brian gets, its so hard to pick out the notes individually. Would love to have my hands on that. You seem to have a pretty good grasp of it

Ryan DeFrees yeh I make all the arrangements myself. on re-listening It seems I did it by listening and writing out all the harmonies I could hear, making up the rest, and embellishing a couple of bits as well. I probably still have a score somewhere of the arrangement that I used for the recording. If you send me a private message I’ll see what I can do.

Sounds rushed in places and an about an octave higher This wasn't bad but, you can do better
@ShrubScotland4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Well thanks, but I’m going to disregard your comments because a) it’s recorded to a click track and b) it’s exactly the same as key the original beach boys version. Has some tuning issues though. I could probably do it better now.

Garry Hall yeah I was gonna say I’m pretty sure it’s the right key. I listened back and forth to this and the original

I'm pretty sure you have no idea what an octave even is. This is clearly not an octave, or any other whole tone, higher or lower than the original. Now I say, whole tone, because although it is in the original key-ish, what it definitely is, at least in the first couple of lines, is flat. I don't know if it continues to be flat or if it ever gets better, but the beginning is flat. Had to bail out on listening after that.
