How big is the department? How many men do you have on shift every day? How busy are you guys, are you by yourself or do you have mutual aid? I love firefighting, and I love Alaska so you have a new sub

Hey man! The department is pretty large, probably around 70 to 80 firefighters! It's a volunteer department so everyday we probably have around 35, (most people work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off on the oilfeild) There are a few more smaller departments scattered across the feild but we are the largest by a decent margin!

A Volunteer department that works 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off? That sounds really, ahh, weird!

@@haroldenglish943 It sounds like all the oil field workers are also trained in firefighting. I'm guessing they all have regular jobs on the field and do this when an emergency arises.

Not all the oilfeild workers are trained as firefighters, up here at Prudhoe Bay there are thousands of workers but only 3 fire departments with between 60 and 90 firefighters each... Quite a few workers who work in high risk areas are trained on basic fire suppression but aren't firefighters
