In this video, I explore the TRAIL ARM's role in your swing for increased speed and ease.
We begin with GRIP fundamentals. A proper grip is crucial for efficient club positioning. Weak grips often lead to an open club face.
Next, we address your SET UP. Most golfers align LEFT to compensate for an open club face, it’s a familiar pattern for SLICERS and SHORT hitters! To unlock your TRAIL HIP's mobility, simply FLARE the TRAIL FOOT and align your lower body more to the right. These SIMPLE adjustments will have you making a better turn immediately!
External rotation of the trail elbow at address is vital. It should point DOWN in the backswing towards the TRAIL HIP, a key to transitioning smoothly.
With an optimal setup, you improve your chances of a square club face and an on-plane swing. Focus on generating depth with your TRAIL HIP, assisted by the flared trail foot. An alignment rod placed at an angle behind the ball or a head cover will help encourage an inside-out swing path.
With these SIMPLE adjustments, you'll soon hit the ball farther with less effort.
Keep working at it!
Coach A.

Beware of the golf commercials from Peformance golf in front of his videos. You buy a product and they automatically attach a monthly subscription to your purchase and hope you don't realize it. It's in very small print at the bottom of the product order form. If a ad saids Performance golf on it...I 've learn to stay far away from that company. On a lighter note.... Andrews videos are always excellent.

"Arms pulling my body through the golf shot." I'll have to remember that. Not a slicer, just a short hitter. Fantastic videos. Thanks so much.

Great video with good explanation as usual. I am a mid handicap, older golfer but have the opposite problem to most people with my handicap i.e. too much draw. When playing well the ball starts to the right and draws back nicely, but when its bad I have lots of hooks, fats and thins. Much of the instruction on KZfaq is for slicers/faders - it would be good to see a video of yours with what you regard as some of the key issues for golfers with the opposite problem. Although this particular video had quite a lot of material not relevant to me, I still enjoyed it as it helped to deepen my understanding. Thank you.

Another fine video. The back to the target as long as possible then let things happen naturally has helped me tremendously. Takes almost all tension out of the swing. Great instruction as always.

Golf instruction has really improved in the years that I have been trying to figure out the mystery. Watched your recent video and the light bulb shown forth . Your instruction was a tremendous relief to my back. Keep it simple.😀

A lot of the golf instruction these days harps on about letting the arms in the downswing drop through gravity, not being physically dropped. Do you go along with this, Andrew, or do you advocate physically moving the arms in the downswing?

Excellent instructions. I recommend doing this over and over. I had an over the top swing. As I started to get more from the I side my striking got worse. Very frustrating. But I kept going back to it and slowly I started to strike it well. Now it feels comfortable coming from the inside. This has taken me 2 yrs to get better. Not a quick fix. Thanks for the video.

Great stuff but don't try to tell your golf buddies. They don't want to hear it....
