Hi peeps!
Welcome to chapter 2 of the Slovenian Mountain Trail in which we cross the Kamnik-Savinja alps and get our ass kicked by thunderstorms, steep mountains, heavy wind and the cold. That does not keep us from enjoying beautiful views on my favourite part of the SMT though! In my opinion, this is one of the hardest and most spectacular parts of the trail while being less crowded than Triglav national park ;-)

Thank you Helena! We are still doing relatively well, especially now that the terrain is starting to look a bit more to what we are used to :)

Great work, but it did leave a bitter sweet feeling watching the parts after Korošici that I missed. I know how bad the weather will continue to get, you definitely need to do the PCT next year. I only got slight wet 3 times in 98 days!!!!

Oh yeah I totally understand it! Hope you’ll get the chance to return one day and see what’s left of the SMT! Did you do the PCT sobo or nobo? I’m thinking to start sobo next year

Hi Helena, great video! I am thinking of doing the first 160 km of the Slovenian Mountain Trail this summer. Is the climb to the plateau (at the beginning of this video) doable without a via ferrata kit?

Hi! Yes, the beginning is definitely possible. There are some steel cables but I don’t think they’re actually meant for a via ferrata kit. You can hold on to them. It’s not an easy hike but I think if you’re fine with some exposure it’s fine!
