It is sweet to see you spending intimate feeding time with your baby! It's not often in today's world of working moms that we see mothers breast feeding their babies, let alone one's 8th! You are a role model for so many and I am sure your daughters are receiving the best education and lessons through you. Your children are beautiful! Well done on this video!

This is far from a real depiction of “what the norm was 100 years ago” there was a lot of bad that isn’t being shown here. Let’s not overly glorify the past. We haven’t lost anything we’ve gained freedom & choice.

As an eldest daughter, I think it's wonderful that you hired your daughter to help. I can't tell you how many years I babysat my 3 younger sibs for free. And, that included the time our stove caught fire! I called the fire department (this was before 911 was around), then the sister next in age helped me empty the shelves next to the stove as they held new dishes that my mother had just bought and I knew Mom would be unhappy if they were destroyed. Our youngest sibs were watching for firemen from the front porch. The firemen couldn't believe we emptied shelves next to a fire.

I am so sorry :( it sounds like you were told that your safety is not as important as the stuff your mother has :( and no @gretelgolden parentifying children is not ok. It is ok to give them tasks where you can live with the consequences if something happens. Imagine someone would have gotten hurt. The parents would have blamed the child and the child would have blamed herself and would have to live with the guilt
@longkorts
@longkorts 9 ай бұрын
@MadameEclipseRose if that was me and something happened I would’ve NEVER blamed the kids! I also think kids should help without pay but to get paid if it’s something bigger like do the family’s laundry for a whole summer or something.

I just had my fourth and I totally agree going from zero to one was the hardest. My only regret is that I didn’t have more. I am 37 now and I’m not sure if I’m getting too far up there. I love finding community where children are viewed as a blessing and not a burden.

It was hard to learn to prioritize what child needed what first, being pulled in more than one direction The first wasnt easy, but i struggled more with having 2. After that it got easier because i had learned to juggle better

I’m currently going through the “laying low” phase with my 1 week old newborn, #9 for us. I ventured outside this morning for the first time to gather tomatoes. It felt good, but had to go lie down after. Knowing your body and taking it easy are really key. And I agree, 0-1 was hardest for me, too!

It’s been hard for me to lay low too. I had #4 4 months ago, had to try so hard and still I kept getting fresh blood again. With my #3 I only bled for 9 days cus I really took it easy and my hubby was home and did everything. He was home this time too but we had just moved overseas from the US 2 months before baby was born so there was a lot going on in my mind and hard to take it easy. Hopefully if we are blessed with more I can actually take it easy and have shorter recovery and bleeding period 😊 I hope we have more children, I feel like I will never be done giving birth and having newborns, best thing ever. I freebirth (#3 and #4) and it’s the most wonderful thing! 😍

I really have to say a BIG thank you to you Lisa! Since coming across your channel and podcast my perspective on home life has changed so much. I have a 12 month old at the moment and have felt it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and even guilty when I’m taking care of the home instead of playing and having fun with her. You’ve made me realise it’s a privilege to take care of our home and provide a healthy and functional home for our family and that there’s nothing to feel guilty about because kids need to fit into our life and don’t need to be constantly entertained by us (especially as they get older). I’ve been able to balance my day so much better since coming to this perspective. I’ve also been making my own bread (not sourdough quite yet but I’m working on a starter) and I’ve even been enjoying cooking which I hardly ever enjoyed before. I feel so much more calm and accepting of my days and am starting to slow down and not rush so much!! It’s such a relief. I now know I can handle having many more babies and I can treasure it! Overall you are a great influence and I’m so grateful that you have shared your life online so that we can see what is possible.

My daughter and son in law are teaching their kids home chores as well as the kids work with their father and earn money. They have four children so far. My oldest grandson picked out a pair of sneakers for school not realizing they were $150😳 He told his parents that was to much and picked out another type. It wasn’t exactly what he wanted but he knew they could not afford those sneakers. I was very proud of him. When you give them responsibility they realize it takes hard work to buy things it teaches and gives them principles.

Canning tomatoes in big batches: I core and quarter my tomatoes and freeze them in gallon ziplocks. When I run out of freezer space I do a big batch of them by thawing in a roaster, ladeling off the watery juice, cooking them a little, and then running them through my victorio strainer. The strainer is new for me this year and in the past I'd run them through a cone strainer or food mill. The victorio is so much better! With the juice I let it settle and pour off the watery part, leaving the red juice. This year I added bloody Mary mix powder and canned that too. For my first batch of tomatoes this year I made pizza sauce, so good!

It’s so funny that for me, my summers are like your winters because it’s so hot in Spain: everything slows down, no flowers are growing, … I’m really looking forward to autumn and cooler days!

I am so thankful for the inspiration your videos give me as a homemaker ❤ I currently don't make sourdough but I plan on purchasing a copy of your cookbook just as a way to support your channel.

Theo seems really good at those puzzles. I think having older siblings helps with learning. Lucky boy.

I’m so glad your daughter brought new life to the chair slip-cover! The video of you making it was how I came to know and follow you. You made it seem easy, so I slip-covered one myself. Still looks beautiful!
