Yeah that is an option, but the wall can't breathe if we use cement plaster. So we planning to go for like plaster to make walls water resistant.

This is a very helpful video. Are you going to continue building through the hot summer months? Will you need to moisten the mud during these months so it doesn’t crack? Please post updates. Thanks again.

Yeah we will continue to build through the summer. Increase the fibre content to avoid cracks no need to moisten them once they are laid. If wall cracks then soil has more clay, we try to balance it with sand or straw.

Every single batch of soil differs, so if clay is more we can add straw to avoid cracks. I add the straw based on the soil type.

Soaking the soil in water will break down all the lumps in the soil, no? Is there a need for power tiller?

Power tiller is not only for breaking the soil, first phase it loosens the soil, then after adding straw, we just roll the power tiller without engaging the tiller. So the weight of the machine stomps the soil and compacts it. More we stomp on it the soil becomes more malleable to work with. Same concept like pottery, more elastic the soil becomes, the stronger and less water permeable after it dries. The power tiller reduces the manual stomping of the soil into cob balls. We can do this with tractor or JCB to speed up the construction and reduce manual labour.

Wattle and daub method will be used for first floor sir. Ground floor with adobe for load bearing structure and first floor with wattle and daub
