Thanks for the kind words. Sadly many of my videos are hidden from viewers way down the search results because of (2) reasons. The first is KZfaq's wonderful algorithm, and the second is due to a very large number of my viewers that don't take the time to share my videos on social networking sites. Many have the attitude that they don't have to share the video, because another person will. Not good. There are many videos inferior to mine that are much higher up in YT's search results. As I said before, if my videos don't get at least 50,000 views, then it's considered a loss to me.

Before replacing anything, remove the actual motor and clean the internal contacts in it. That is often a problem.

I’ve had 3 honda accords in the last 10 years. One from ‘05, another from ‘15 and my current from ‘17. Each of them have had problems with a slow passenger window. I changed the motor and regulator on the first two and my current one needs a replacement asap. This videonis very informative. I never thought about using lubricant. Thank you!

The testing of the fuse port with a multimeter is something I've not seen on any other video of this sort. I've tried ALL kinds of lubricants in the window channel and nothing seemed to speed it up noticeably. Gonna do the multimeter test next. Thank you for sharing!

Great tutorial for the do it yourselfers out there. For those who are going to attempt this, keep in mind, every make of car is different, and there are many variations of how this will play out! These are the basic guidelines, but be prepared to "wing it" if the internals are nothing like those seen in the video...

Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it. My videos should be getting far more views than they get. YT's algorithm is burying my videos way down the search results, and showing inferior videos closer toward the top of the search results. If things don't change, and more people don't start sharing links to my videos, I may cut back on the number that I upload. I'm losing time and money in the process of helping others.

I did this on my wife’s 98 Corolla some years ago, I couldn’t see what I was doing but a cheapy blue magnet light from Harbor Freight and an old makeup mirror with a magnet glued to the back gave me a much clearer picture. The replacement looked like it may have been meant to be riveted in and there were holes to mount it but no threads in the holes, but with HF it was not a problem since I had a tap and die set from them

While it is true that an excessive power draw could be from a faulty motor, a motor under excessive load from a jammed mechanism, could also increase the amperage draw.
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 жыл бұрын
That's true too, but infrequent. Lack of window channel lubrication or a worn out motor are the most common.

Very clever idea re: checking current draw. I’m quite surprised that a replacement regulator only $40 for your car; I would have guessed $200 at least. After all, it’s a fairly large and moderately complex mechanism.

My 1975 Mercedes 450SEL has a slow passenger side window. I’ve already lubricated the all four window’s regulator and the actual lifts and pivot points. They are like a scissor lift. I lubed the window tracks like you did in this video. I used silicone grease. Is that the same as your paste grease? Or is that paste grease just dielectric grease. Also I put dielectric grease on my trunk seal and it stopped leaking. I will replace it when I get around to it. From what I’m told dielectric grease is the same thing as Mercedes brand bushing installation lubricant, meaning a huge cost difference. I’m going to check the voltage draw readings like you did. I’m trying to figure out a rig for my bullet type ceramic fuse like you made one for yours. I don’t want it arcing and damaging something. Very interesting video.

Here in the Desert South West the heat and sand destroys most all plastic components dealing with the Window Mechanisms. The damages don't take long. As short as one or two years can render them inoperative. Plastic tracks and pivot points become brittle cracked or just worn out.

I replaced the regulator that came with the motor and pulleys. The thing still won't go all the way up. It's like it's getting stuck in the track. I can hear is squeaking against the rubber. Tried lubing it up with silicone spray, but it only works a few times and then gets stuck again. I'm getting to be a pro taking off the driver's side door panel.

Does the power regulator that moves the window up or down need to be in a certain position when replacing that assembly? Or does the motor stop when it senses resistance? Some car have that as a safety option. Just thinking if the window trolley was in the wrong position the window may not go up or down the full distance.

No. Place it in a position that makes it easy to bolt the window onto the regulator. Thanks for watching!

i figure you fix it as your title says than replace it. But good instruction video. lubricating it would have been faster (within 30-60 min?) to do (and i was curious to see what works to use it on other things if it was good like home windows/. But buying does take up your time to work for the $40? But i guess you did not want to take the chance to do it again and bought a new one which is another reason.
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 4 жыл бұрын
The title was accurate because the video covers methods to fix(by lubricating), and to replace if desired. Buying a window regulator assembly for my vehicle locally was very expensive. I don't have too much time to do things twice, so I didn't want to try lubricating the regulator assembly, reinstalling everything, to find out the motor was shot. So I found a good deal online and just ordered everything new so I didn't have to play games. Thanks for watching!
