Thanks very much for the demo! I have a Troll A Matic arriving tomorrow to troll for walleye. I also appreciate the full speed demo. The last thing I wanted to have to do was manually raise the plate before I took off. I have a 50hp Merc and got the model for 50hp and above. I noticed you have a 40 so I think this will be great. Thanks again.

Yes, I do all the time...especially in the winter and need to get to speeds around .9 to 1.5 mph. If you are in the market, check out this model. It is what I have on my boat. kzfaq.info?o=U&video_id=bVPnad_WMrk

So no issues with your 40hp even though the product says for 50hp and up? Can you remove the springs and put smaller ones on if needed?

Correct, no issues...no you can not remove the springs.

Hi I have couple questions on this. One how much would you say it slows your boat down? My boat goes about 2.5mph right now and I’d like to get it down to 1-1.5 if possible. Two do you know if there’s any benefits to this brand rather than the Easy Troller trolling plate brand ?

No performance lost at high speed at all. I do not know about the Easy Troller plate, but the Trol-A-Matic is a quality product.

Yes, very well...great for slow trolling Walleye and Crappie this time of year too. Good luck!

do you have a lot of drift at low speeds? hard to keep boat lined up during troll or is it all over the place? thanks

Yes, if there is some wind you might need to adjust...I do this by using my electric trolling motor to steer

I see that this video is 6 years old and wondering how the Troll-A-Matic is holding up? Was your fuel consumption effected? glad I found your videos, I became a subscriber!

Yes...you will have to throttle up a bit more to go into reverse. Tight lines!
