In this video we do a simple comparison of ACF and Meta Box performance. It is difficult to compare them because they have different architectures, but we learn some things in the video and we are able to draw some conclusions.

As much as I like to optimize my sites for speed, I don't concern myself with the minor inconvenience provided by the plugins as long as the functionality needed takes precedence. ACF is more user friendly to me and my clients.

Thanks for your effort David! I switched to MetaBox a while ago because I had read that it was more efficient in terms of storing the data (and because of LTD at the time)

I want to use Meta Box because you can do so much more with it compared to ACF. However, the instructions are ridiculously overly complicated compared to user friendly ACF.

It started out as just a developer tool, so it still has some of that in the docs.

As David mentioned this plugin was originally built and advertised as a developer centered product. It has expanded to being easier for end users. So it will probably always be developer first

@@arnaudardansii1745 Yes, he already mentioned that. Are you a spokesperson for Metabox? If not, you do not get to speak for them, especially when you use the word "probably." That tells me you don't know what they will do in the future, and you're just giving your own opinion, which is "probably" wrong.

So on an average site it makes no real difference. I doubt it would make a lot of difference on a large site. I think you would only notice any differences on mega sites like those of libraries with tens of thousands of books, marketplace car sites with tens of thousands of cars and so on.

Yes, the little things are amplified the bigger the site gets.

@@AnilPainuly- Using the custom tables feature of Meta Box would be a good idea for that many records.
