Over the past 2 years, I have worked tirelessly on improving my own slow pitch softball swing. Along the way, through research and trial and error, I have picked up a great deal of information that may be useful to others trying to get better. This video is intended to help low level rec players who are struggling to pick up the basics of the slow pitch softball swing.
In this video, I focus on bat path. And more specifically, I try my best to sell you on a level bat path.
I think with a little inspiration, a lot of hard work, anyone can fix a broken swing. Perhaps this video will help provide the inspiration that you need.
As always, I appreciate your support! Please hit that like button, subscribe to the channel, or drop a comment below. Or, do all three!!
Until the next video, Keep Doing Your Thing!!

What's unusual about you is how well-spoken you are. Most people doing how-to sports videos cant speak very well. They pause, search for the right words, backtrack, go off on tangents and are just hard to understand. Your speech is very fluid and organized.

This series has been really helpful for me. I just got back into slowpitch a couple months ago after many years away from the game. I've been building up the basics through YT videos like this, thanks!

Good for us old b ball players trying to get back at it in slow pitch. My problem has been keeping my back foot planted and being more relaxed.... knowing I have more time.... Keep the content coming for the rec. players 😊

Staying relaxed is a must, but keeping your back foot planted, not so much. You absolutely don't want happy feet; but, if it is coming up and forward as you rotate on your front leg, that's okay

Smooth is fast. If you try and overpower the ball you never hit a good contact point and you drive it into the ground or pop it straight up. Great tips

I've been trying to add more power to my hit, but have caught myself gripping more instead of letting it flow naturally. Giving me bad ball contact leading to these bad pop ups, or horrible 1 bounce grounders.

One thing to keep in mind is that velo numbers are not as high with a cut swing . There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that either. A guy who squares it up might have better velo numbers but the ball won’t go as far as someone that spins the ball. I love the cut swing.

That's definitely good information. I hadn't considered the reduced exit velo numbers, but it makes perfect sense. It also makes me feel a bit better about my numbers. Haha. I also love the cut swing! And I love the consistency of your swing. I edited out a part where I told people to go to your channel and watch you just take consistent cuts over and over as an example of hitting well. Too many beginners want to hit tanks, and they should be hitting line drives in my opinion!

@@DLeagueBP watch the guy DK in a few of my videos. He cuts it really good. Fun to watch him spin it.

Right at 11:55 is the main thing I'm trying to get myself and a few teammates to work on. No need to "pump" or drop hands down to your belt before swinging. Great video!

The best way I know to work on keeping your hands up is with Tee work. Stride, pause and make sure your hands are up, then swing through the ball. Do it over and over until it feels normal

Funny how I just found your videos yesterday and was wondering when the bat path video would come out. So thank you for dropping it today lol I will say after watching your videos so far I was already able to change some things and my team just won our championship this morning and I actually contributed

Love the video series man. I’m suffering right now. Tee work feels amazing. But game time comes and I can barely get any decent contact. I know a big problem is my contact point keeps creeping forward. Anyway enough venting, thanks for the great content. ✌️

If it makes you feel any better, it took me a good amount of time to transfer my success on the tee to live pitching, particularly game swings

Depending on how long you've played almost always correlates to how long it takes you to transfer your new swing into games. I've been focusing on taking one piece of the swing "live" at a time. Seems to be working, the 3B in my l ague hated me for a month or so 😂 Now I'm hitting ropes at about 8 ft through the 5-6 hole consistently. Sometimes I'm early and fly down the line, sometimes I'm patient and go over the 2B if they're playing 5 man. Just takes time and consistency.

Great content, you must’ve read my mind definitely needed this. I feel I have good power but my timing and bat path needs improving. I feel I’m always way to out in front in live bp, need to learn to be more patient and wait for the ball to come down so not to have that upper cut swing. Will try starting hands higher also as I’ve been starting hands around under chest area. But I think timing and waiting is my biggest issue. Keep up the great work, it’s appreciated!

I recommend tee work. Easier to focus on hand placement when the ball is stationary. You can also make sure the tee is placed at the proper point of contact. Good luck!

For the cut swing, should we be standing at the front of the plate or rear. And are we looking for high pitches or chest/belt high
@DLeagueBP
@DLeagueBP Ай бұрын
I can usually cut anything that is belt high or above. The swing looks more like a cut swing when the pitch is a bit lower, but you can hit a high pitch with a similar swing. Usually looks like a tomahawk swing. So watch the pitcher and stand wherever you need to get one above the belt (which is normally towards the front of the box)
