That’s kinda how rap is though. The line between reality and illusion is blurred. When people are really hitting licks and breaking the law and going to jail for some crazy ish then people are like c’mon get your act together and free so and so but when it’s just on an album or music videos people glorify it and dream about the lifestyle. It’s a tricky line to walk bc it seems too often the ones who are really about that life are the ones on the edge that are making it happen in music. I think it has to do with beliefs and a lack of inhibitions. There’s a certain state of mind where one can be liberated and free and some discover this and go a bit too far and fly too close to the sun. slowthai is such a likable guy though. Anything people have critiqued him for, that I’m aware of, has only made him more likable to me.

People in the public eye are just people with a camera trained on them, it's not the 50s, in the age of the internet anyone can become famous without anyone policing what they say or do. Slowthai seems to take most of his inspiration from grime, which speaks for itself largely in terms of role models; I've got no beef with grime but most people there aren't saints... And punk, John Lydon weren't a good role model and neither were any of the others. It was still culturally profoundly important and ultimately beneficial to lots of people. So with respect Rupert, I don't think that argument still holds water in today's society. I do believe Slowthai has behaved like a class A cunt.
