SLUG POWER MOVE WITH THE IOWA NORTHERN! MOW equipment drone chase and NS power on the CN!

04/07/2024 Cedar Falls, Ia. Here the Iowa Northern is seen with a couple of old F40 Amtrak locomotives and slugs! New Hartford, Ia. A lone regulator seemed out of place as the drone gave chase through town. Cedar Falls, Ia. The CN L571 had NS power as it headed over the Cedar River bridge and along the dam. Some wild turkeys made a road block on my way home!

Beautiful loco over the bridge at Cedar Falls junction with the 2 cutest railfans ever! Loved the N/S train video over the bridge the river looked & sounded angry! Oh those turkeys have a death wish they are not in a hurry are they! Thanks Red ❤😊👍🐕🦃

In Bull Valley, Illinois we've got so many turkeys it's not even funny. Luckily traffic speed is lower so not many accidents. First time seeing a Tom fluff up! Thanks Red!

Hello Red, quadruple power, at THE IOWA NORTHERN diesel power at the front and back and the slugs in the middle with electric power. Interesting tracking of the track construction machine, very nice the journey of the NS freight train over the bridge. Short of coming up to Butler for the power plant a light engine move does not happen in Milwaukee. Plus it was a great set of power to do it with. That little regulator moving on Down the Line looked like a small bug trying to escape the Drone. Great new angle at the dam plus the three symmetrical logs tipped on them. Turkeys under the watchful eye of the dogs. While being hunted they sure can be sneaky but when it comes to crossing highways or just walking they look slow and stupid. You're welcome Paul! Iowa Northern power moves are on borrowed time at this point. The CN may keep some of their equipment around. Strange there was no tamper to be seen near the regulator that day. Those dogs had a front row seat to those gobblers!

Red like you I’m a CNW fan, have you ever visited the Illinois Railroad Museum? They have plenty of old CNW and Milwaukee Road locomotives and various cars. On the weekend they run trains, last year they had 2 CNW F9 units with passenger cars to ride.

That was a nice catch of the Iowa Northern Railroad power move through Cedar Falls, Iowa on its way to Waterloo, Iowa. I presume that the Iowa Northern engines and slugs were going to Waterloo, Iowa to pick up some freight cars that the Canadian National Railroad left for the Iowa Northern. The Canadian National Maintenance of Way regulator looked lonesome as it traveled west through New Hartford, Iowa. The Norfolk Southern power on the Canadian National's L571 was unusual to see. Usually, we see at least one Canadian National engine as motive power on the L571. This Sunday version of the L571 was short in comparison to the size of weekday L571 trains which are usually longer trains. A helicopter would come in handy to help remove or dislodge those trees that are hung up on the Cedar Falls dam.

Thanks Thomas! The Iowa Northern was actually most likely headed North to their Butler yard in Shellrock. Definitely strange for the regulator to be by itself. I expected to see a tamper somewhere. A helicopter picking up those logs would be an awesome vedeo!

Geeeeee, only thing NS & IC had/have in common, was/is black with white lettering............those turkeys sure would look yummy on a Thanksgiving platter.....🤔😋😋❗

@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 and speaking of NS, after their slew of derailments over the past 12 months, now its CSXs turn, they had a head-on collision in Folkston Georgia, sent 3 crewmembers to the hospital..........and my son in law showed me more pictures when his train got snowbound outside of Cedar Falls back in January, his train had 2 BNSF units and only 18 cars, but 8 feet deep snow was much more than the engines could push, so, there they were. He said there were also at least 2 other CN trains snowbound on the Chicago to Omaha line, but they didnt run plow trains until excavators dug out the stuck ones..........

@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 my son in law took those pictures at night, there wasnt much to see but a LOT of snow.........the pictures with the BNSF power didnt show much either, it was just barely enough to see the "BNSF" on the side of the trailing unit, the lead unit was all but buried in the snow. He said it was so cold, everything but the prime movers shut down, but they still had heat in the cab. Thats severe winter railroading in Iowa, i guess 🤔😵😨😱❗❓
