The Sennheiser does have more output (comparing the spec sheets). So, it makes sense that you didn't have to turn the level up as much on the E835.

I have the E835 for more than 12 years and that thing still work like brand new, i now need a second mic and i think buying the Shure SM58 and i’ll try them both live! Live is the way to test them

My wife has been using the SM58 for 40 years. One gig a singer handed her senny she did not like it and changed back ASAP to her SM58.

Excellent demo, that's how it's done. Good A-B comparison, even I can hear the difference. As for the mics, they are different but neither is bad. It's a matter of preference.

Senny is a better mic. More clear and cuts better through mix. SM58 can work ok, but it needs more EQ.

Sm58 takes any signal chain like a champ in my opinion thats why its loved by many live sound engineers 🙂

Ive tried others including the e835 my favorite is still the sm58 been using mine for years the sm 58 is well built the e835 is more for people with a soft singing voice

I went into my local music shop 10 yrs ago to buy a Shure sm58 cos that’s the vocalist mic right ? The shop for whatever reason did not have stock to take away and I had a gig that night( and I don’t like sharing cigarette breath mics], the salesman not wanting to loose the sale suggested the e835 as it’s just as good , I could have went to other music stores in Glasgow but being impatient and gullible as preset I decided to take his word for it without testing it. Turned out to be a great move never used a sm58 since I have a bit of a soul sounding voice and feel the e835 just does me justice. Can’t completely explain it but just seems to give me my Mojo. I’m in no way slagging off the shure mic but please don’t right off the E835 just cos its always got to be a sm58 ( industry standard)

Sennheiser e835 sound a lot clearer to me…sm78 sounds more muddled. I know the sm78 is loved by many and for good reason but sometimes other solid mics aren’t even considered because of the sm 78 has been around so long and stood the test of time.

I always use windscreen for my microphone because I smoke. I think the e835 does sound better with the windscreen. not too much with the sm58 because its already warm sounding microphone, a wind screen only gonna make it muddy.

Nice video mate! I think out of the box the E835 will sound better to many people. Two additions: - When proper EQ'ed the Shure gives more possibilities - For loud voices the Shure will sound better

Y’all youtubers making me think of switching teams and getting a Sennheiser. They look sleek too. Probably aren’t really, but I always thought they looked more fragile..

I have sm58 and it needs eq. I woild get senheiser it doesn't need eq.

SM58 seemed more of a realer sound if that makes sense, more depth, where the sennheiser seems more clear at the start but when you did the beatbox the e835 did much better.

The 58 is boomier. I've watched a few vids comparing the 2 mics and the 58 just sounds boomier to me.

I prefer the E835 because it sounds natural, and does not emphasize low end and sound width like the SM58 does.

Sm58 has body to it, all other mics focus on higher frequencies to appear clearer and they can but sm58 has that bassy body that no other mic has unless it's cheap and muffled and confused for bass

Shure for sure! Bottom end wise it has much dynamic range, more neutral and natural. But 835 has more clarity! Great for instruments.

To my untrained ear, the SM58 seemed more bass-heavy and the E835 seemed more natural. Other than that, both seemed very good.

I use BOTH,I like The E835-S, on off switch,and i Dont have to YELL on it,low voice is great and no s training The cords when ya want to be loud,MY GUEST LIKE THE SM58 BECAUSE they like to screen,lol,so BOTH are REALLY FOOD,very little difference,sure is a lot cheaper for sure and like i said BOTH GOOD for Talk SHOWS or just singing,SURE IS CHEAPER,LOL

Both are pretty good microphones. I have both. I generally prefer the Sennheiser for live performances.

sm58 has more pronounced low end and the "P" tend to boom more. the E835 def has more air and cuts more. I think in the context of a band the E835 is better, but they are clearly both great and either one is a no brainer.

SM58 is fuller sounding to my ears, the Sennheiser sounds just a tad too harsh in the higher frequencies.
