Fishing with Marki Mark

Fishing with Marki Mark

2 жыл бұрын

In this episode, I head on an offshore fishing trip with my buddy Jacob off the east coast of Australia. We departed from the headlands of Botany Bay in Sydney to a reef situated approximately 25km offshore in order to target some yellowtail kingfish on live bait and jigging. We had a really small window as we knew a southerly was going to hit and we agreed to leave an hour or so earlier. Things did not go to plan and before we knew it, the storm came early and we found ourselves right in the middle of it.
Hope you all enjoy the video & please stay safe!

I've got a 4.75 top ender with a fuel injection 70 hp yamaha 4 stroke I've had in some wild weather had the damm thing air born past 6 meter fibreglass boat in some huge waves. Also nearly rolled her coming back from rock cod shoals when the weather turned sour

Glad you came out alright mate! Crazy how things can change out there. We knew the weather would turn sour and left in advance.. however the predictions were incorrect and got caught up. I wish I captured the trip home.. however couldn't even let go to get access to my bag and change the gopro battery. I couldnt even reach my PFD as was risking getting flung overboard. We got stuck into a 3-4m lateral swell with a huge southerly.. wasn't fun!

Thanks bro appreciate it, yeah man super glad those lock downs are long gone! Cheers bro, definitely wasn't worth it though! It took a couple of hours to get back! It was predicted a calm day with under 1 meter of swell turned into about 3-4 meters with a big southerly and the tide was running out fast of Botany Bay heads. I couldn't even reach the pfd's under the floor hatch at the front of the boat & couldn't film the return due to a dead gopro battery. From that day I always wear a pfd.. no matter the conditions even if its glassy, people look at me crazy but safety first!

Thanks my bro! Honestly the king was a consultation prize. Just glad to be back. Spewing I couldn't record the return my mind was on staying alive, helping the captain with balancing the boat etc. We were climbing waves, then slamming down with the bow nearly nose diving.. scary as hell, then when you see a big one its like.. can we even get over this? It was like looking a wall of water.. going 4 knots all the way back home. Captain said that it was the worst thing he was ever caught in.. when we got the heads, the boat hooked hard to the left, bow down almost clashing or heads we nearly went overboard. Intense day man!
@fishingwiththamma
@fishingwiththamma 2 жыл бұрын
@@FishingwithMarkiMark Far out bro! That would have been an epic shot but I reckon the GoPro would not have done it any justice. I cant believe how quickly the weather changed but the captain did very well to get back. ok so what advice can you give someone with a lot of boating experience but no boat looking to buy something that will be used mainly in the bay etc but will be also used offshore when the weather allows , what sort of a boat , size ? cabin or not ? after your experience ? thank you for your time and advice
@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark 2 жыл бұрын
Man I've had a variety of experience fishing/being a decky on friends boats, but haven't got a lot being the capt. Just from my experience; it really depends how you want to use it, family leisure, mix, fishing how many people, if you want to access skinny water as well. So many variables when choosing the boat for you. For me I wouldn't get something less than 5.5 for some offshore work when the weather permits, perhaps centre cabin - you can have 360 fishing and keep at least you and your decky dry when its choppy. Something with high enough gunnels for safety and fighting big fish, a good dead rise & v to cut through some slop offshore. Inshore work you can use anything as long as its not super crazy conditions. Really depends how adventurous you are, the bigger the boat more of a security blanket if you get caught in some crap offshore. Hope that helps to a degree. Cheers.
