The cheapest Pixel made is this, the Pixel 4a. As it comes up to 4 years of age, how well does it hold up? After all, this is considered a budget phone, as the specs are not in the modern mid range category. This phone can also be found in the $100 range, or even lower depending on the condition. Is it like a 4 year old budget phone like the iPhone SE 2020, or is it worse? Let's find out.

Actually that has recently changed because the Galaxy A15 has an OLED display but if you're looking for a small phone then you're pretty much SOL. Great video by the way, I love these older phone reviews since not too many people look back and give such an indepth look and feel. My mom actually still has her pixel 4A (bought in 2020) and other than the battery not holding a charge as long. It's still holding up just fine, she's never complained about photo quality, performance, connection speed, or lack of features. For an average user it's still a great contender for a small phone if they don't know how to use custom roms or don't want to mess with replacing parts like batteries or screens.

I know lol I did the screen record a while ago and wanted to prove a point, but Samsung made the A15 just to prove me wrong lol. Sounds like we did the same for our mom's lol

I totally get the love for the 4a - but I could never recommend this to anyone over the Pixel 5 - it's exactly the same design and for +1mm in height/width and +8 grams you get 33% bigger battery, 5G, upgraded Android to 14, IP68 water resistance rating, gorrilla glass 6 rather than 3, wireless charging (I don't care about it, but some people might), a slightly faster chip, slightly bigger screen, 33% more RAM, and practically the same price. The advantages of Px4 over Px5? Tiny bit smaller, and 3.5mm jack. For some people I guess that's something.

Headset jack and cheaper is truly the only reason to get the 4a lol. The 5 is better for sure. Thinking of getting another Pixel 5 in sage, but gotta get an unlocked version cause they stopped supporting the phone software wise

@@RealWorldReview alot of people would also consider 4a over 5 is that it's the last Pixel that had the unlimited google cloud storage and on pixel 5 there's I think 15gb or something I don't remember

Common misconception. Pixel 5 and older (including 4a) no longer have original quality storage for free. You can use Storage Saver option for "lower quality" (16mp photos and "hd video") for free indefinitely. The only one that gets unlimited full quality still is the Pixel and Pixel XL.

I have both the 4a and 5. I got the 5 a little later. My 5 battery died and my 4a is still running well. The 4a is lighter and for whatever reason the battery always lasted a little longer than the 5.

I love the size of my 4a, but after three years it's getting a bit long-in-the-tooth. I use the camera only for "documentation" photos, and for that it's adequate. Lately my battery life has diminished, the the SIM slot has become suspect as I get frequent "insert SIM" messages that require a reinsertion and a restart to fix. Sometimes that doesn't even work. If the new SIM I have inbound doesn't fix the issue, I'm buying a new phone for daily use. Maybe I should do so anyway given I'm ourt of updates. And by default, sadly, the new one will be bigger. But my 4a will remain as a backup wifi device.
