Small Streams & Rivers - FUN FISHING!
For this latest video we enjoyed a fun days fishing in and around an array of small streams and rivers close to our home, with the aim of catching anything that swims. Armed with one rod, a small bag of tackle and a pint or two of maggots we enjoyed visiting some of our old haunts which we used to fish when we were kids.
To find out exactly how we got on and if we caught a few fish, watch the latest episode from the waters edge.
As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

Just found your channel and have subscribed. I wish I could remember where I first went fishing with my grandad nearly 70 years ago but despite having a photo of me with my first fish, a perch, noone in the family has ever been able to tell me. It started my love for angling just for fun. Thanks for the video and the memories it brought back.

I do think people starting to fish nowadays just go straight onto catching & wanting to catch the biggest carp they can and that’s it. They aren’t interested in any smaller species, but this kind of fishing for me is the best. You cant beat keeping busy, keeping out in nature and just catching fish. Doesn’t have to be huge carp to enjoy fishing 🎣

If people want to do that then fine, but they're missing out on a lot of fun and acquiring knowledge of different rigs, different types of water and gaining valuable experience. There's fishing, and there's catching.

@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV pollution neglect lack of conservation by the EA otters mink and unfortunately Europeans who don't know it's theft .We went through a few years where it was brilliant but as usual that ended.I fished the River wear in Durham caught 1 minnow last year while out for barbel and chub.Carp fishing is terrible unless you fish a commercial which there's not many that hold big carp.We had Barmston pond which had big pike in and carp tench the council killed that off by accidentally letting polluted water in there was a mirror found 37lb dead no one knew it was even in biggest in to the northeast .Otters wiped brasside out carp upto 27lb others to 25lbs 200 carp died on the complex the otter fence they had around it was actually a badger fence the company who did it messed up and a committee member was hiding otter tracks all they kept saying was it's a Mink they we know the difference obviously my 14 years ended there. The river wear is a disgrace I've e.mailed the EA about restocking but I'm not holding my breath mate.

Funny as Chub ,not as numerous as 10/20 years ago in my experience still seem to survive and grow to decent weights along side otters , yes many are caught damaged / chomped / tails in half but in my humble opinion Chub have grown to become even more spooky and hidden to avoid these furry fish stock destroyers! I guess Barbel like Pike seem to be like sitting ducks and an easy target in these clear , slow shallow upper rivers. These are my thoughts as an Angler of these East Anglian Rivers for over 40 years and counting!!

@@glenpalmer392 Thanks for sharing. My own fishing journey started around 20-25 years ago and i can very much remember how my local river and canal used to be absolutely jam packed with fish and there were always anglers sitting on their seat boxes one after then other that could be seen for miles. While there are still fish are quite small to begin with while it seems the smarter fish are holding up in areas that run through private residential areas - so arent fished because youre not allowed to. or residential areas where people are allowed to fish but dont because the river is all fenced off to stop children and pets falling in. --- At least this is very much of the case where im from and i have watched through a lot of video footage from local anglers on YT. Otters arent the problem *HERE* -- Just the *RESIDENTS*

Couldn’t help to respond as that is a completely different set of problems to what we have in this neck of the woods , to a certain extent all us Anglers like something to moan about and a ready made excuse for blanking but year on year our river fish seem to have more odds stacked against them in flourishing in numbers and growing to specimen sizes !! Our rivers need more care and money plunged into them than ever before yet no one does anything yet the licence fees still roll in ! It’s a huge worry mate , in this neck of the woods our ‘Wild Swimmers’ are finding high sewage levels in our rivers and stretches that 10 years ago that were 8 metres wide are now half that and half as deep! Where will this all end?? Not well is my guess ……….. I am lucky to live on the coast and have got into summer sea fishing to side track my river anger / frustrations ……. Keep trying new things my friend , don’t be afraid to travel and feel blessed to be lucky enough to understand and partake in the GREATEST EVER pastime !! Tight lines .
