Small Town North Carolina Christmas - (Sylva, Blowing Rock, Lenoir, McAdenville)

We decided to take a tour of some small towns in North Carolina, to see how they decorate for the holidays.
You will definitely want to watch until the end!

McAdenville has undergone some changes recently. Read a few weeks ago that most of the original trees that lined the border of lake were all taken down…new trees planted. Of course, all of the original mill houses are no longer present now..as you now see the new homes that greet one from the south end. We live three miles east (Belmont)..and don’t visit here every single year, but do try to come as much as time allows. You did a beautiful video of Christmastown USA. By the way, the bakery you saw will be moving back to Cramerton early next year, which was the store’s original location. They have purchased and are currently renovating a much larger building for the bakery. Many years ago, a quaint cafe was located in the same area where the bakery is now. I haven’t driven through the town in quite a while, but understand the town has done many renovations on what use to be Phar Yarns. That company is no longer operating, so it seems this building will be turning into a mini mall of sorts. Same thing that is being done here in Belmont with the old Chronicle Mills on Catawba Street. It is almost finished..so there will be condos, restaurants, and stores located inside. I’ve lived in Gaston county since 1988 and Belmont since 1995..The area continues to grow vehemently. I didn't realize that you lived that close. I knew that was the general area, but 3 miles is really close. We ate at Steak-n-Shake in Gastonia before heading over to McAdenville. You know, I THOUGHT I remembered trees lining the border of the lake. I even told Shawnasi that I didn't remember the trees being out IN the lake like they were the other night, but that I thought they went around it. But since it had been so long, I thought maybe I was just remembering it incorrectly. BTW, thank you so much for the beautiful Christmas card. You all have a Merry Christmas, as well. God bless.

Glad yall decided to walk through McAdenville instead of drive so we could see, along with you, the lights on those back streets. One thing about the wet streets are the reflections of the lights off them makes it look magical. You Definitely saved the best for last.

Yes, the wet streets certainly did make the lights glow more. It was just a pain having to walk through the rain.

I want yo to come through Canton next year. We had the most floats we ever have had for a Christmas Parade, we've done an excellent job with lights in downtown, and there are lots of positives to build on. In fact, you could ride through anytime this month to see what I mean.

We pass through Canton on Interstate 40 quite a bit, but I'm not sure we've ever been downtown. That is definitely a good suggestion for us to look at. Thank you. Do you have a few pictures you could send us, maybe to our Facebook page messages?

It seems like most small town businesses close down very early and that is a shame for people visiting there.I actually thought the foggy night there in Blowing Rock was pretty cool looking. McAdenville really knows how to decorate the town. It’s good that the residents all join in.The town looks beautiful and the name certainly fits.I really enjoy seeing colored lights for decorations it looks more festive.

Yes, it was very impressive to walk through there. Just wish it hadn't been raining. As for the fog in Blowing Rock, it did give the lights a "glow", sort of. But with Blowing Rock being in the mountains, there is usually some snow. I wish there had been. Supposed to next week.

Actually the McAdenville sleigh is for Santa, he is their some nights to take pictures. Also for others to take pictures. Always beautiful. You can go down the street and in town on the Main street and get hot chocolate and food. . MERRY CHRISTMAS!
