This system looks like it works well. I’ve been using the Jessem dowel jig for a while and can’t speak highly enough of it. Not as fast as a dominos for sure but probably just as strong and super accurate and versatile for anyone interested in a much cheaper domino alternative. It’s just such a well made tool and it doesn’t seem very popular.

what you think of the domino joint instead of dowel , but I think your jig is great

thanks for the homemade dowel tutorial, but I think I'd make my connections with dominos!

Wow! Making a KZfaq series and rocking chairs? I can barely make a table and chew gum at the same time.

Thanks for sharing! I've been watching a lot of 'tubes wondering why everyone is using biscuits or dominos. What ever happened to the lonely ol' dowel?! How are they "better" than a dowel? Seems to me that spending a lot of $$ for the tools is only for bragging rights, not improving the building of furniture.

Completely agree, Vince. What is a domino if not a wide dowel? As soon as you use 2 dowels, there is no difference between the two. Correct me if I'm wrong

Why dowels over say biscuits?

In my opinion the dowels are much stronger than the biscuits in this application...also using the simple Little jig makes it very fast accurate and efficient.

What about dominos
@Philipmorleyfurniture4 жыл бұрын
You could definitely use dominoes but I would not say that it would be any stronger and it would be a little more time-consuming because it’s not as quick and easy to reference.
