To play with both game boards, I'd recommend the Tunnels expansion (waiting on the review for that btw) offered by DoW. You won't have to remove any races from play and it also raises the max number of players to 6.

Two reviews of the same game. I have Small World. I may have to get this one! I saw Boardgames with Scott review of Small World and decided to purchase it. (this was before I discovered The Dice Tower reviews.)

How do you fit all the expansions and this game in the original Small World box? Can you post an image?

@Zwiezwerg92 You should be able to have leader tokens with this as well. You can just use the extra blank tiles from the Leaders expansion.

Just the races and traits. No way yet to mix the boards, but I suspect they are working on a way to do that.

I've heard the relics are a little too powerful considering how easy they are to pick up. Other than that though this does seem it'll make for a nice difference for regular Small World players.

Oh.. i still had no chance to play the other expansions (necormanser, legends and tales and such). And now this one. I would like to just have those artifacts as a small expansion for the base game.

If the numbers you gave are accurate, Tom, there are a total of 2,028 different power/race combinations.

That is my impression. I was at the local game store and they had Underground, but not the original, so I passed. The new maps seem too gimmicky for me. Plus I saw a game played on Watchitplayed, and really want the chance to play the diplomatic Skeletons.

i don't like combining the two games, personally. aside from a few weak races/powers, SWU is a pretty tight game and its elements work well together. i really like each SW in its own right, and feel like mixing the two messes with the balance of both.

Should i buy Underground or the original Smallworld?

I got into Small World last year and since then I gathered every expansion there is for it. The original Small World alone is enough to make happy any gamer. I am not looking forward to buying the Underground version any time soon but maybe in a couple of years when the feeling of the original will have worn a little bit (which I doubt :D )

Interesting, I just bought underground because they didn't have the original that I wanted.

While the game has its charm and I can see why many people like it, Smallworld also suffers from some flaws that prevent it from being fun for me. Like mentioned before, the relics are too powerful. They provide such an enormous advantage that the game becomes focused around getting the relic, and that detracts from the rest. But even worse is the balance. Bluntly said, there is none, and the game does not even make a secret about it. Get a good combination of race and trait and you will have a much easier game than the rest of the players. In my opinion, this is not what a good game should be about.

Simply take that race out? Racist.

Underground is cheaper where i live jajajjaja.

every time they do the opening where they pour the stuff on the table it makes me wince. not being completely anal abput your games is one thing, but atleast treat them with a modicum of respect
