Thanks for this video. My dad passed away last fall and I’m the one running the farm now pretty much alone. I am, by no means whatsoever, a mechanic of any kind. I also can’t afford to hire a professional mechanic. I wish my dad would have been able to show me these things; he was brilliant. But now, with your video and the other amazing tutorials on KZfaq, I’m doing my own plumbing, mower repair, building, and now tractor repair. In a very short amount of time, I’m becoming pretty darn handy. I only wish Dad could see me now. Thanks again.

One problem I'm having with this is the paint on the rod. That can contribute to the sweeper damage and may be why the other fellow done it twice and now you're rebuilding it again! That rod needs to be clean. Anything on that rod, scratches, paint , tar, all will damage your sweeper seal. I'm sure you figured it out but that tiny o- ring went over the threaded end behind that nut. Great vid.!! I've done mine several times each and I wish I'd had you tube back when I first got it. They are pretty self explanatory though if you have any curiosity or mechanical knowledge though.

Well, I got it back together. Thanks for the hint about collapsing the inner seal. Grove side out would have helped my confidence but steady as she goes, Lad.

I was going to do the same, but for the price of the gaskets and the trouble of doing the work, I found it was cheaper to buy beefier hydraulic cylinders from Majestic. Simply take off and replace!

I'm about to do the cylinders on my John Deere. This gives me a good idea what to expect. They wanted $650 a piece for new cylinders at the JD stealership.

You don't have to remove the cylinders. You can just pull the rods out. Lots of extra work that's not needed

If you don't have a vice just put the rod and pin back onto the tractor, then take off the nut.

You scare me with that pipe wrench. Try putting some protection on the exposed cylinder bf you use the pipe wrench, that way if you slip you don't kick and damage the cylinder. You could also try placing a short 1/4' bold in the hole for a better grab and less damage to the piston locking ring. With a bolt in place, with no pipe wrench, you can now tap the head of the bolt with a large punch and hammer to unlock it and twist it off with a large channel lock pliers; just my observation.

This was tremendously helpful. I'm assuming that the lift pistons are essentially the same drill? I just noticed a broken seal sitting under one of my L3010's lift pistons today :(

That chrome rod needs replaced…. That’s why it’s not lasting. JMO

The internal rod might have spurs on the metal

Makes it easier if you use the right tools. Not just a hammer and a pipe wrench. 🤣🤣🤣
