Mark, a great show with the fly rod for smallmouth, very informative.

Wow! I learned a lot! Thank you. I watch fly fishing videos almost every day, and so often it is really repetitive(after 7 years, which is still great, and helps solidify the info). This was very refreshing and now I want to target the bass family!

Someday I'll have the money to do these sorts of things! Until then I'm 100% self guided =)

Oh the memories of campin & fly fishing with my dad & brothers on the Buffalo, Kings, and White Rivers in Arkansas. Catching Rainbow Trout & Smallmouth, cookin em up on a Dakota Fire Pit on shore. Salt & butter! Used to catch 5-10/hr between us.

Another excellent video from the New Fly FIsher. Very well done Mark. I have used the indicator and jig style fly to great effect on smallies here in the southeastern USA. I loved he way you demonstrated catching bass with several different fly fishing techniques. God Bless and Tight Lines Anthony Hipps

Great video. Where we fish smallmouth, a lot of the time we have to horse them out of heavy weeds so we use heavier setups. Still lots of fun watching them take a fly off the surface in a violent splash!

A couple of times in this episode you used the term “negative fish,” I’ve never heard it before. What does it mean?
@newflyfisher2 жыл бұрын
Mark is referring to fish that are usually impacted by weather or water temperature conditions. Even though the bass are usually on the bite in the spring, they can become passive and negative in their feeding if a cold front comes to the region.

I agree with you. Don’t get me wrong fishing fly fishing lakes on a boat is awesome, but it’s kind of its own thing and not the fishing I’m doing most of the time.
