Personally, I think Jimmy deserved to know starting here. If he could figure out Clark's secret from a few articles and two photos, then he earned the right to know.

Problem is Jimmy just told Clark at the farm that he wanted the Blur to go public. It's hard to fully trust him knowing he wants it to be public and how crazy he is about finding out.

In Smallville, when someone is about to know the truth, he/she is knocked out by the vilain or get killed, further more when Clark doesn't trust or tell them. So at this moment, I knew Jimmy was going to face some unexpected shit from a hazardous plot.

For me atlaest the one of few things the new 52 did right was allowing jimmy to know clark was superman i mean how can you be superman's pal and not know his real identity.
