Video how to replace a faulty engine temperature sensor on a Smart Fortwo. Also we had a misfire on cylinder #1 and we replace the coil.

Really funny, I have a similar issue. When my car is cold, or when the engine is FULLY warm, it'll start up. If I've driven it for 10 minutes and need to start it again, it will not start. I'm fairly certain it's this also, so thank you for the video!

You’re welcome. I did have to have a friend with a more advanced code scanner reset the the temperature sensor codes in the computer after I replaced this sensor.

@@hughbertsprojects I actually have a fuel lean bank 1 code. I've replaced exhaust o2 sensor but can't get to intake. It might be throwing a temp code now but the issue I talked about before has persisted forever. I also have a coolant leak. Lol. Either way, been planning to delete the baffle box for a silicone tube so I might as well try to replace that at the same time.

Once you delete the baffle box you’ll have really good access to the engine intake air temperature sensor and the intake heater. That could cause the bank one lien code that you were having. Test the sensor to confirm.

Great info thank you very much! One question, do you know where the coolant bleed valve/plug is on the Diesel CDI engine? I did a cooling flush on my 2009 ForTwo CDI but could not find the bleed point location that I know should be near the cylinder head to bleed the air out of the tubing. Now the car is overheating with the water not circulating and I guess full of air pockets everywhere. I've searched all over the Internet and the all the information available is only for the gasoline engine not the diesel. Thank you very much😊😊😊

I’m not sure on the CDI as we didn’t get them in the States. The bleeder was on one of the metal coolant lines on the top of the engine on this one if I remember correctly.

You dont show how the heck you took the screw out that sits just above what Im guessing is an o2 sensor, which is perfectly in the way. The screw is in backwards so you cant see the head of the screw. Maybe its a t30?? Impossible to get to😡

I apologize for that. I’m looking into getting another Smart that I can take some better videos of repairs here shortly.

I need to buy another one. I’ve been given a few small ones but they are usually worn out by the time I get them. I’ll see what I can find on sale this winter before Christmas.

BAD FUEL PUMP PEOPLE! EASY DIY JOB. JUST DO IT!
@hughbertsprojects7 ай бұрын
The fuel pump was fine. The temp sensor was telling the car it was at 250 degree engine coolant. Once we replaced the sensor, bled the cooling system, and deleted the code it was good to go.
