Such a common misconception and it irks me. If a keeper has one had on it counts as in possession and control . The de gea incident shouldn’t count and neither should Simon’s example . As per the law it’s a free kick to keepers side on both occasions

@RangersFC72 I don't think so, just not allowed to stop the keeper from throwing/kicking the ball otherwise it's a free kick, only thing you can do is try intercept the ball after the keeper has thrown/kicked the ball, a good example of this is benzema goal against Liverpool in champions league final when karius went to throw the ball to a Liverpool player and he reacted after it left his hand.

You know as a second year ref, it is very comforting and reassuring that there are Champions League, top league referees that struggle even with VAR. The football association I am with does not use VAR and are currently not using 4th officials. We have our mistakes but seeing top class, world class refs make mistakes even with all the help they get is relieving.

Simon is a great player. His knowledge of the rules however, is shocking. It is basic rule taught in amatuer football as well that as long as the ball is within the GK's hands, doesnt matter 1 or 2, the GK has possesion and you cant interrupt him by taking the ball in any form
