Yes, the edges of the lid aren't sharp. BUT now the can edge is deadly! I cut my fingers badly twice on the can when using this type of opener. They also leave a thin string of the the label dangling from the lid which can fall back into the can. Plus they generally are VERY slow at getting around the can. Terrible devices.
