"To me this is one of the most important songs from our upcoming album. I felt an irresistible urge to write a song on the following subject: I grew up in an environment where drugs were a big part of my surrounding. Very early I understood that people were hiding their addiction and weren’t in a position to talk about it, being afraid of the potential disgrace they could face. Why do we fake bravery and act like heroes instead of telling the truth, which will set us free? My works life insurance policy didn't pay for suicide until after two years, so I decided I couldn't kill myself and leave my friend without rent until after that time. I figured if we were still there then I'd do it and give him some of the payout to cover. Additionally he had discovered a close family member after their successful attempt, so I also decided I couldn't do it at home and have him find me. Holding on for another year so much changed and I silently thank him every day for it. If it weren't for him and his friendship and everyone else around me who knows where I'd be. But I stayed alive for him, just a while longer, and now, I won't say I'm perfect, but I'm trucking on and much happier.

Wow so glad to hear of your sobriety. I have been clean 3+years, I used drugs after my divorce. I lost everything in 1 year due to my poor choices and trying to be numb, I'm still paying the price for my choices, I'm on the right track, best I can be. Never looking back or going back to that life. It's not worth what you lose in the end, either your life, or your kids get taken from you.. It's a long hard road sobriety but I take it day by day.. I'm gonna be ok and you will be an inspiration to a lot of people.

The first song by Smash Into Pieces I ever heard was "Let me be your Superhero," and that was about a year ago I heard that. Since then, their music has become ingrained in my mind. The music speaks on so many levels, its astonishing. This one here, this song, hits a little harder for me, but follows the trend. Just last year, I lost a close friend of mine to suicide. He left behind his wife and two boys, because he felt the demons he was fighting were too strong. I miss him dearly, and still wonder what else, if anything, I could have done to help. But his demons were "part of [his] soul [his] shadow" and I know he got tired of trying to escape them. -Asking someone to be there is a mark of courage, not weakness. Not every battle has to be fought alone, especially those of the mind. Dont give up, no matter how much it hurts, no matter how tired you are. Fight for every minute, every hour, every day. Fight for yourself, and the person you want to be.

This is the first song I heard by Smash Into Pieces. The song and music video hit me hard as I’ve lived both sides of it. My mother overdosed 3 times (one time I found her), and then the last time she hung herself and successfully died. She was in so much pain and felt so alone after my father divorced her. She couldn’t find a way to cope and suicide in her mind was the only way out of all the emotional pain. I became an alcoholic and drug addict after my mom passed because I couldn’t deal with the pain of losing her. She was my number one support. It’s been 6 and a half years, things have improved but I still feel a lot of pain not having my mom here. My addiction struggles are still an everyday battle but I somehow found the strength to try my best to stay sober most days. I’ve been sober for a month now and attended my first CA (12 step program) meeting 2 days ago. I’m going to try to stay sober for the rest of my life so I can make my mother proud. She may not be alive but she will always be with me. I hope she is watching over me. After hearing this song I was hooked on this band. They have a lot of other great songs with catchy melodies and great lyrics. Keep making great music @ Smash Into Pieces!! I would love to meet you guys someday if you come to Halifax, Nova Scotia or somewhere in Canada.

Sounds like you are fighting hard to change everything for the better and it can't be easy but you have taken a big step and I really wish you the best! I lived this. My mom od'd when she was pregnant with my middle sister. My entire life I grew up in bars surrounded by abuse. I vowed to Hell and Back I would Not Break, and I SURVIVED, I HAVE BROKE THE CHAIN!!!! They didn't win!!!!

Holy sht,. I was listening from auto play (suggested songs) was about to skip this song (am using cheap headphones just certain tunes ,suck) heard the lyrics closer and it froze me,and seen the video,(was listening while on Facebook etc,not fully paying attention,to anything,until now,) Definitely hits my relating to it shame yet understanding of both,(the song and myself) so many amazing songs these recent couple of months I'm discovering,Along with the unusual timing,the newly published,the matter of a mind trip I went thru for 2-3wks Nov to DEC,still has a grip on me,but in a nut shell,you-tube even was interacting with my state of mind,in ways non sensible,yet relatable. And trying to vent this,sounds as weird and or put in a way I can't even make sense of as typing and reading. :/ but trying here n there,thanks for the comment that helped me share mine,whatever this is. Great tune is 1 fact I know makes sense at most n if anything. :)

I saw this band last Saturday night they opened for Within Temptation and they were great they had such a great energy, and honestly before this concert I’ve never heard of this band and I can say that after seen a live show they becoming one of my favor bands I would go to see them again, so Smash into Pieces if you are reading this please you need to do a tour with a much larger set I’m pretty sure you could sell out too... best of luck to you guys and I hope to see you again on tour...

I like that idea. The mask has two colors, red and blue. Blue is calm and peaceful but red means something gets destroyed or someone dies.

Just discovered S.I.P. a few weeks ago and I am totally mesmerized by their music, lyrics, stories. This song, and others, really hit home. But especially this one. I've been in addiction for 7 years of my life. Clean now for 11 months. I am so happy I found them. Their messages through their songs really help me. They give me hope.

Met the singer Chris and the bass player after a concert with Amaranthe 4 to 5 yrs ago. Chris - Adam is so humble and down to earth and most of all a really talented singer. In the first 2 mins of their gig, I thought there were two singers till I realized it was all him

addiction is torcher for the addict, the addicts friends, the addicts child, the addicts boss, the addicts doctor, the addicts family, the addicts acquaintances, and his brothers. when my brother Jeff took a pain pill that turned out to be fentynal and enough to kill, he left behind any chance to turn his life around, but he also left behind heartache for everyone he knew. if you feel overwhelmed and sad, there is always hope. don’t give in. let the emotions roll over you and then exhale. calm yourself. the best medicine is peace in your heart. you just need to sit calmly and breath. great song. great band. this old guy loves the vibe. 😎

This song is my favourite of theirs. Was someone who has anxiety and depression and had hit rock bottom more times than I can count on my hands, and as something I've had to fight everyday for the last 7/8 years... It's been one of the hardest battles I've ever had to face and probably beats having to watch my mum slowly die from a brain tumour over three years. Having to control two illnesses inside your head and feeling the pain everyday not being able to tell anyone how much it hurts. I've been on medication for my depression for the last five and half years. And this song I can connect to, as I need my medication in order to live my life the way I should, I also have a lot of memories I have to try and forget as I was abused for years from the one person who should have been protecting me from everything. My last 10 years has been nothing but fighting demons and and hoping I could get through everyday to the next. Thank you for this song. I love it.

You know, I don't know if these lyrics come from Chris or whoever APOC is...but either way I adore this band. Chris'....or Chris-Adam's, I'm not actually sure which he prefers, his vocals are amazing. THe DENSITY that he has in his voice blows me away. Their songs are catchy and meaningful. I don't think they are trying to write songs that can be "everyone's" experience. I think they are writing songs that try to get to the truth or THEIR experience, and that is what I love. I want to improve at knowing that it feels like to be another person. In that effort I often get to know myself better, and that enables me to love other people better. I don't know that there is anything better that we can do.

i love the new direction..... i always like cross genre......a lot of post grunge bands are getting more melodic and incorporating modern music production techniques.... people stop moaning....it still "rocks" but this time with some thoughtfullness..... a great album...

I've lived with a 3 year long addiction to pills in the past that hurt my relationship with my family my friends my gfs, the end of this year makes 6 years I've been clean and sober from pills, my sponsor I had helped me alot, hes still my friend to this day

I wanna know the full story behind the Apocalypse DJ, they seem like a very interesting character with some really neat backstory, I have a theory that the Screaming Blonde Child is the DJ and this is a flashback, or a story arc, and then the next song that follows this story is Arcadia, then All Eyes On You, then Ego, then Godsent, then Everything They S4Y, I think I have the story timeline down, but what are all the other songs featuring the DJ supposed to mean, are they side things that develop the character more, were they just songs with well, the face of the band as the hero, what do they mean?

I just discovered this band days ago, so I can't really be certain. But from what I know, these could be other aspects of his character/ his backstory. Smaller "sidequests" in his/her life, how they impacted different people. That is the best explanation I can muster
